My thoughts are with all the family at this sad time. Bill will be fondly remembered for my reasons, but foremost for being my manure man! He delivered from his farm on the 10th concession, to the Schomberg Community Farm on Western Ave. Multiple loads he would bring with the tractor and flatbed both full, he said to me several years ago, “I think this might be the last time, I am turning 90!” He also brought his hog weeder to cut down weeds that were 10’ high, I am forever grateful for that. A remarkable community spirit of helping where he can. RIP Bill.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Bill. I know he put up a valiant fight but for him,it was time.
I would pass Bill almost every day in the Hall on his walker. I would always ask how he was and he would never complain, insist he was just fine and make a joke about the ‘Golden Age.’ Throughout my life,I always knew Bill to be complimentary, respectful and humorous. He worked hard for his Community and he loved his beloved Lions Club.
When I went to Elliot Lake,Bill came to my goodbye party and he wrote in the book “To the nicest little streetwalker in Schomberg!”
When I was doing the Weekend To End Breast Cancer Campaign, the Lions were great supporters of mine and Bill lead the charge.
Bill was a caring,Christian and Community man and a powerful source of inspiration for us all. I am definitely blessed to have known Bill, as we all are!

    Passing of a Great Lion
It is only three years ago that the Schomberg Lions Club celebrated the 90th birthday of Bill Hanlon and a remarkable 35 years as a member of the Schomberg Lions Club. Bill was a stalwart member, our guiding light with stories to share and values to live by. Due to his dedication and readiness to always help at all our events, he was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, one of the highest in the Lions organization. In 2019, our Club was happy to honour him by planting a tree at the Trisan Center and he will be remembered as a Great Lion for generations to come.
