Dear Joe and the Maltby family,

Sincere condolences to the loss of your mother Marie. I did not know your mom well but I do know she was friendly and that she frequented mass and sang in the choir. I wish I could have heard her sing by herself. She must have had a great voice. Her faith and dedicated to our church and to the local foodbank is very much appreciated. It is so nice to see all the positive messages and accolades about her – she seems like a remarkable woman. When we lose a pillar of our community it is a loss for us all. May you find comfort in knowing how much those little things that she did really count especially the care for your dad when he had his health struggles. Her commitment to her faith (especially when so many left after covid) was always a role model of faith for me. May God bless you during this time of loss. A mother’s love is like no other. May her soul rest in peace. Sincerely, Jodie Guillemette and Tom Eagan

My deepest condolences to Marie’s family, she will be truly missed.

I was so very sad to hear of Marie’s passing. We first met when my family moved to the area in 1992, and I joined the Lioness Club. Marie was always so friendly, and helpful. We became fast friends, and laughed often about having the same name.
She was indeed a special lady.

My deepest condolences on the loss of a wonderful woman.
Marie was am amazing and long term volunteer of the food bank. Rallying resources when she saw a family in need. Such a kind and compassionate soul.
When my father in law was sick her kindness was truly a godsend.
She talked of her family adventures and loading everyone in the car and going off on an adventure often. I always wish I had known her when I was younger. She was a fire cracker!
A real pillar of the community.
    She will be missed.

As Joe and Marie’s neighbours for only a short time, we didn’t get to know them intimately but what we do know is how devoted Marie was to Joe. Caring for him so selflessly until the very end was beautiful and inspiring. Marie told us how they built their home, raised all of their children there and worked hard to make sure the kids were always taken care of. One time I was talking with Marie about a family dilemma of my own and her advise was very simple “family is family, you gotta do what you can to help no matter what”. It’s easy to see these values were engrained in her children as well. We are sad to see her go but we will always remember Marie for the wonderful woman she was.

Marie, may you rest in please and be reunited with your true love Joe.

    Sincerely,
    Christine, Carmelo and family.

On behalf on the Forestell family, we wish to express our deepest sympathy. Marie was greatly admired by all of us – for her humour, her loyalty to friends, and the wonderful way she would always lean in when conveying information she thought you needed to know! Marie was a great friend to Alice, the both of them having spent many years and long hours in the choir loft at St Francis, trying their best (with others such Vi, Joan and Evonne) to ensure decent musical accompaniment to Sunday morning mass. Marie not only had a lovely voice, but could keep one or more of her children – and even those who weren’t her children – sitting in one of the adjacent pews in line with a very pointed look! She will be greatly missed.
