Raphael ‘RJ’ Joseph Garvey

In Memorial

Garvey RJ

On November 19, 2024, in his 82nd year, at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston, RJ Garvey, beloved husband of Margaret (nee Noel), was promoted to Glory. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faith. A cherished father to Joanne Stevens (Randy), Cynthia Garvey, and Susan Burston (Peter), as well as a deeply loved Pa to Luke (Mikaila), Mark (Ashleigh), Brooke (Aaron), Brandon (Jacqueline), Tyler, Katherine Elizabeth (Mitchell), Stephen, Joshua, and Emily.

Pa will be deeply missed by his great-grandchildren: James, Tessa, Lucie, Xavier, and Adelaide. His kindness, strength, and gentle spirit, rooted in his deep love for Jesus Christ, touched the lives of all who knew him. RJ’s faith guided him through life, and he shared that love with everyone around him.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in RJ’s memory may be made to Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Shephard’s Table (etransfer [email protected] message Shepherds Table), or World Vision. The family invites you to share your condolences and memories at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.

A loss of one of my Godly Giants. It was RJ’s easy going conversations about God that attracted me and my family to Christianity. The Garvey family’s passion for the Bus Ministry drew me to full-time ministry with Youth For Christ. Now I know what RJ stands for, Raphael Joseph!

I have good memories of a kind & gentle man of God, always willing to help others. I remember how he helped me fix my van after my husband, Ross, had to go into a retirement home.
May God bring the comfort only He can give.

To the Garvey, Stevens and Burston families. We would like to offer our deepest condolences to you all as you say goodbye to a wonder man of God who has touched many lives, including ours. He was an encourager and had such a sweet gentle spirit. There was no question where that gentle spirit came from as his deep love for his saviour was evident. We are happy to have known him for many years and then to have him as a part of our extended family was an extra blessing. We will be praying for you all as you go through this difficult time. Take peace in knowing that he is now at home with his saviour. Until we meet again. ❤️

Aunt Margaret, Joanne, Susan, Cindy, sending virtual hugs. So many good memories of Uncle Jay reading God’s word at the kitchen table in Tottenham. He proudly petitioned God’s will & protection for our family. PA’s shed produced many gifts; Brooke & Katherine’s Doll Houses, & SO much More. My heart holds dear, all the “Jigs Dinner”, “New Years Eve nights” with games, Crab legs, & Cornish hens that Aunt Margaret & R.J. put on for us. Good times !
How could i forget Tottenham house Pool times? Hours & hours with Susan, Stephen, Josh, Katherine, Brandon, Ty, Brooke, Mark, Luke, & Emily & their friends ! Uncle Jay had a super-skilled “Shallow Dive” ,(into the above-ground pool), then inside for a coffee with Aunt Margaret after a long day at work. Happy to know Uncle Jay’s re-united with all our loved ones who’ve gone on to be with Christ in His Perfect Peace & Glory.

Our deepest condolences to all the family. R.J. will be greatly missed. He set the parent and grandparent bar high, and we know the great love and affection that inspired. He used his skills to bless his grandaughters with beautiful doll houses, and in countless other ways to support his family, which was his greatest love after his Saviour, Jesus. We will miss him as a friend and co-grandparent, and for our shared interest in military history, which was the source of many good book swaps. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, and especially Peggy. Until we meet again, R.J..
