It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of David Alexander Cooper, January 25, 2025 in his 82nd year. David is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Elaine Rose Cooper. Devoted and loving father to Geoff Vaughan (Sylvia) and Karen Oomen (John). Cherished grandfather to Madison, Mila, Taylor, Nova and Reid. David is greatly missed by his sisters Kay Powell (Jack predeceased) and Linda Donaghy (Michael predeceased). Predeceased by his sister Isabel (Ron predeceased). Lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Patti Hodgson (Fred predeceased) and his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Dave enjoyed the friendship of his Tottenham coffee buddies and Friday afternoon Legion friends. He was fortunate to have many long and enduring relationships with childhood pals with whom he shared travel, much laughter and shenanigans. A fiercely proud Scot, he would revert to the Scottish brogue of his parents to regale his audience with stories and amusing tales.
Dave loved food and cooking, taking great joy in sharing it with others, and had a great compassion and love for animals.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory to the Tottenham Food Bank or the Alliston & District Humane Society would be appreciated. Condolences may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.

To Elaine and all of Dave’s family and friends, I got the opportunity to meet Dave in a group setting in the legion a few times, he’d come in and sit down with us and a pint, sometimes after a visit to California Sandwich, and we’d listen to him talk about the old neighbourhood, his time in sales or his adventures while travelling. I enjoyed listening to him talk, he brought a warm and welcoming light with him into the room, I will miss spending time with him, and I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to you all.

Dear Elaine and Family,
I was so sad to hear of Dave’s passing, and I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to you all. Dave was truly one of a kind—his warmth, humour, and kindness made every moment spent with him memorable.
I had the pleasure of working with Dave at Sysco, where his fun-loving spirit and quick wit could brighten even the busiest days. No matter the challenges, he always found a way to make us laugh. And of course, sitting around the family Christmas dinner, Dave was in his element—sharing stories, cracking jokes, and making everyone feel welcome. He had a way of bringing joy to any gathering, and I will always cherish those memories.
His love for good food, his Scottish pride, and his ability to tell a great tale were just a few of the things that made him so special. He will be missed by so many, but his laughter and kindness will live on in the stories we share.
Please know that my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Wishing you comfort in the days ahead, and hoping that the many wonderful memories of Dave bring you peace.
With deepest sympathy,

Nicole Grimaldi says
My condolences to Elaine and Dave’s family and many friends. Dave was such a lovely, kind, funny, and warm person who I greatly admired. I think so fondly about seeing Dave during my childhood years; it was always a highlight because he went out of his way to spend time with me, to talk to me about serious things, to joke around with me, and to make me feel special. Dave made people feel loved and seen. And he made them laugh. Sometimes the people that really impact your life for the better are not the people you see every day but the ones that, when you do see them, you share such special moments with them that they last a lifetime. Dave impacted my life for the better and I am very grateful for that. Rest in peace Dave, you will be missed.
Wendy Grimaldi says
Elaine and family,
I was so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. When people use to ask me how I was related to Dave, I would say he’s my brother-in law, in-law, in-law. I have so many great memories of the times we all spent together-whether it was sitting around the Christmas table or time at the cottage or chatting around the ‘water cooler’. Lots of laughing and good times. He was such a wonderful person. Condolences to you all.

I always loved visiting with Elaine (my childhood school friend), and Dave whenever I had the chance to come to Tottenham. Dave always made me feel so welcome with a delicious meal that he loved to cook, and a special breakfast when I stayed over. He told so many funny and interesting stories of his youth, his teens and his friends. I will especially miss his laugh and warmth. I am sending caring thoughts to Elaine and the family, and hope the happy memories sustain them through this sad time.

My Uncle Dave was so kind and caring. The kind of Uncle who you immediately hugged when saying hello, his love for his family was genuine and I felt it every time I saw him. He Loved to laugh and I fondly remember my dad and him sitting around the dinner table telling jokes.
When I now think if him yes I will be sad but so grateful and proud that I got to call him Uncle Dave.

It is with great sadness to hear of Dave’s passing. Dave will be remembered by his great sense of humour, love of cooking (and eating), his gift of gab and his boyish laugh. Many stories were shared by the “Perth Boys “ and their crazy shenanigans as kids and adolescents. And, there was never a dull moment when these guys got together.
Dave, you certainly will be missed by your family. I know that some of “Perth boys” are lined up waiting anxiously to greet you when you enter the “Pearly Gates”.

Kara Harris says
Dear Elaine and Family,
I was heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dave. He was such a kind and friendly person, always showing genuine care and concern for me while I was growing up next door. It brought me so much joy to see him continue to take an interest in our lives, especially as he enjoyed watching my own kids play in the court or the backyard when we visited my Mom. We always joked about having beers and it became a bit of a tradition. The love he shared with you, Elaine, for 35+ wonderful years was a testament to the beautiful bond you created together.
Dave’s spirit will live on through the cherished memories he made with each of you, from the laughter shared with his grandchildren to the stories he told with such pride of his heritage. His compassion for others, including his friends at the Tottenham coffee shop and the Legion, reflected his true character—a man who enriched the lives of everyone he met.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I hope you find comfort in celebrating Dave’s remarkable life and the love he so generously shared.
With deepest sympathy,
Kara, Barrett, and Addison.
