Caroline (Carol) Grace Aitchison
May 8, 1938 – September 23, 2025
Caroline “Carol” Grace Aitchison (nee Proctor) went to be with her Lord and Saviour on September 23, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born in Toronto on May 8, 1938, Carol was the daughter of the late W. Boyd and Marian (Robertson) Proctor. She grew up at the corner of Highway 9 and 27 in Schomberg, Ontario, and began her career teaching in the school across from the farm she would later move to. In 1965, she married Charles Aitchison and Carol lovingly devoted herself to raising their family and helping on the dairy farm.
Carol was the beloved wife of the late Charles Aitchison (1975). She was the cherished mother of Debbie (Wally) Simpson and proud stepmother of Geoff (Marlene) Aitchison and the late Michael Aitchison (2018) (Joy Ceroky). She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Linda Boehler of British Columbia.
When her mother became ill and their parents passed away, Carol, though still young herself, helped raise her sister Linda. This early responsibility reflected the quiet strength and selfless care that would mark her entire life.
Carol was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and generous spirit. Carol attended Victory Baptist Church in Newmarket where she worshipped faithfully for more than 50 years. She also gave her time to Christian Womens’ club, Schomberg Horticultural Society, Meals On Wheels and countless tea gatherings and bus trips with friends and family.
In 2019 Carol moved to Leamington, Ontario to be closer to her daughter. She treasured her family and was especially proud of her ever – growing legacy: 18 grandchildren, 41 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren. Carol’s life was marked by faith, love, and generosity. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at the Leamington Mennonite Home where Carol was lovingly cared for and supported during her final years.
To depart to be with Christ, which is far better. Philippians 1:23
