McGuire Paul Portrait 1McGuire: Paul,

Paul McGuire of Schomberg, Ontario

Passed away on November 1st, 2026 surrounded by his family, at the age of 93. Predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Geraldine (nee: Doherty). A lifelong resident of Schomberg, Paul grew up in the “McGuire Dairy” business (present location of the Schomberg Library) before meeting and marrying the love of his life, Gerry and moving to their own dairy/ beef farm a few miles away on the 10th Concession of King. There they raised 8 children and helped mould the lives of their grandchildren and great grandchildren, instilling his love and knowledge of horses, for which he will always be remembered. To all the McGuire family, I am saddened to hear the passing of my neighbour of 55 years. And what a great neighbour he was. A man true to his convictions and honest as they come. A man who loved the farm and he and Gerry managed to live their lives on it to the very end. May the next generation carry on that McGuire tradition as this generation passes the torch.
Rest in peace with Gerry my friend

Paul and Gerry were not only my uncle and aunt, they were my godparents. They were a very loving, supportive part of my life while growing up. I always felt welcomed and part of their family and looked upon the farm as my second home. My love and sympathy to the family.

Uncle Paul will be sorely missed — the last of the Schomberg McGuire siblings; it truly was a great generation. His farm was organic long before organic was cool. His ethics and character were strong and centred and unchanging despite the maelstrom of ten decades of world upheaval. May God rest his hard working soul and continue to bless his family.

I’m saddened by the passing of Paul. I’ve known him and his family since I was 2 and we lived in the little white house. Our families became more than friends; we became extensions of each other. Teresa, Keith, Lynda, Jim, Sharon, Lorraine and Shawn were the older siblings I never had while Chris became a younger brother to me.
Dad and I share your grief.
