I loved Joan’s spontaneous laugh … Joan’s legacy will live on and on through the Brownies she taught … who in turn influenced their families and friends … some became Brownie leaders who taught more Brownies, who in turn have influenced their families and friends … and on and on … Joan really set the bar high for thoughtfulness… most cannot even touch this bar with their fingertips, let alone continue to jump the bar, right to the very end … with words of encouragement, support, celebration, and her famous perfect cards that touched your heart, sent just when needed the most.
I feel so fortunate in my life that I’ve had the privilege to know the Waklin sisters … the role models and the friends they were to me, my mother, and to so many others…. My dearest lifelong family friends, Phyl

I knew Joan & her family when we were teens together in Pine Grove – Being so far away we didn’t see much of each other, but I always looked forward to our chat on the phone at Christmas. I will certainly miss her friendship.
I will keep her in my heart along with the other loved ones I have lost. My deepest sympathy to Bruce & the family.
    Love

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear, sweet Aunt Joan. Her genuine warmth and kindess was constant and she was so very loved by my family as more of a mother figure and grandmother to her great neices. We will miss her greatly but are grateful for the wonderful memories she has left us. Our deepest sympathies to Uncle Bruce and family.

Joan was always so friendly when she was out in her paddle boat on Farlain Lake and we chatted at the end of our dock. Joan said that she had watched our sons grow up from that vantage point. Our condolences to the family.
