I was sad to hear about Gerard’s passing. He was a great friend of my late brother Paul Wilson. We were neighbours growing up in Loretto and I have many fond memories of him.

Over the past while I have had the privlidge of taking your dad’s groceries to him every other Monday and then having a chat. He enjoyed talking about the sports games, our grandchildren, the conditions for the farmers and hunters and how lucky he was to have good neighbors to help him. He was so looking forward to seeing Laura home for the holidays and God gave him that extra time, then some peace and freedom from sickness. Farewell friend.

So sorry for the family’s loss. I so enjoyed “meeting” Gerard from afar via mail and mutual friends. He was very kind to help me uncover some of my family’s Canadian history and heritage from many, many years ago (Nevins, McNamara, Bergin, McGovern). During our exchanges via international post, we even learned that we were actually cousins (he my 2nd cousin 2x removed). I treasure the brief friendship and all the wonderful info and photos he shared with me. Add another star to Heaven and may God bless him and welcome him home. –Jen Childress, Mead, WA, USA
