Jonathan “Jack” Alexander Jevons

In Memorial

Jonathan “Jack” Alexander Jevons.

10 Dec 1984 – 31 March 2020 in his 36th year.

Loving father of Virginia Ryan Marlene Kurmann (Switzerland) and remembered fondly by her mother Natascha. Beloved son of Mary Jane Culgin and Sean Ronan, David and Susan Jevons. Loved brother of Ben Jevons and his partner D’Arcy Hutchings. Lifelong friend of Jamie Weaver.  Loved by stepbrother Justin Ronan and his wife Kristine and stepsisters, Seanesta Ronan, Valerie Miller and Andrea Miller. Cherished grandson of the late Aileen and Jack Culgin, and the late Joan Heslip. Loved nephew of Barbara and the late Ted Culgin, Debbie and Chris Darling, Jennifer and Allan Burton and Charles Jevons. Jack will be deeply missed by his cousins, the Ronan family and many friends.

Our Jackie, a soul who’s flame burned hot, an adventurous courageous spirit, powerful intellect with the spirit of a thoroughbred. Those who knew Jack knew his sensitive side, his beauty, his terrific sense of humour, his challenges and they loved him.

We use the metaphor of flame to reconcile our emotions of a life cut short, nonetheless a life lived as fully as a person might. Jack had found a calling which buoyed his soul and he was happy. Teaching English to children in Morocco and quickly finding purpose and fulfillment there.

As the world today strives to cope with COVID 19, our wee family are faced with the knowledge this is what took Jack from us. We tried to bring Jack home; however, he was too ill to travel.

Our family’s grief is daunting, foreign, our hearts ache, we all hoped and prayed for a different outcome. In our grief we know we are not alone, the heart of the world is aching, we are in these troubled times together. Humanity shines forth from every corner of our tiny planet, hope is eternal.

We are grateful to The IBIS Budget Hotel for their support, especially Rashid who helped Jack so much in the last two weeks.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

On behalf of Jack the family suggests donations to: Sleeping Children Around the World, Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe Muskoka Children’s Aid or a cause you believe in. Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home, Tottenham. 905-936-3477. www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com

I only knew Jack from an online message board where we shared our love for the band, TOOL. He was very kind and hilarious and stood above the toxicity that online forums can breed. Very sorry for your loss, he and his beautiful family will be in my thoughts for a long time.

I know through the years my baby cousin and i have lost touch for reasons we really didnt have much to do with. But if i had one wish right now it would be to tell him one time, i did love hium very much and i will never forget the time we did have together growing up as he opened his world to me even though he was only 6. Jack no matter what we will always be blood, and now part of that is gone from my life with no chance of making up for time. my baby jack, i love you so much, i just wish you could hear it from me. please be waiting for me when its my time I LOVE YOU

Below are the translated words of Rashid, a kind and gentle man who helped Jack daily during his illness and was with him up to two hours before his death. Rashid was God in action for us and I am eternally grateful. God willing we will meet one day on this earth.

Oh God, forgive and have mercy on him, and his health, forgive him, honor his inn, expand his entrance, wash him with water, snow, and cold, and cleanse him from sins as he cleans the white garment of impurity, replace it with a house that is better than his home, and a better one from his family and a better husband from his wife, and introduce him to heaven, and give him to heaven From the torment of the grave and from the torment of fire

Reading about young Jack’s life in Morocco reminded me of the unconditional love offered me by the Moroccan people when I lived there many years ago.Your family can be proud of the work he did, and the happiness he found in his adopted country.

My condolences to you, Mary Jane n family. This virus has taken many before their time. Jack was doing something that he love n felt he had found his calling. Not many of us have ever had this feeling. He was the lucky one, but gone too soon. Take your memories of him n smile knowing he was loved everywhere for being himself.

How tragic for you both. The loss of Jack is so senseless and so sad! We are thinking of you both and remembering the good times our kids shared before they went their separate ways. Jack was always such a bright and unique young man.

Know that we are thinking of you both and wishing that there was something we could do to help ease your pain. Fondly, Barbara and family

    Dear Mary Jane & Dave.
Our memories of Jack have created a sadness and void that words to comfort will fail to conquer. Jack is gone but what remains are vivid memories of times spent together as families.
The love you created for your family gave us the kind, the gentle, the caring and compassionate spirit of Jack, and the loyal, the thoughtful, the sweet and easy nature of Ben.
As parents, we recognize our children all to soon become adults, and their choices become their own. What we hope is that of all the things we’ve taught them, it is the importance value of how we treat others. When I see Ben, and when I remember Jack, I think as parents, how could you be more proud?
Ben, we think if you everyday and miss you much and look forward to a time soon when we can all gather as friends and family to remember Jack.
    With love.
