Mary Wilcox

In Memorial

Mary Alice Wilcox (nee Courneyea)
February 23, 1938 – June 15, 2020

Between those Dates Mary radiated with kindness & humor to Family Members & Longtime Friends with Neighbours in Pine Grove & during her years walking into the Village of Woodbridge, Ontario visiting in the Historic Wallace House, Henderson’s Drugstore, Royal Bank, Cadaldi’s, Tony’s Hot Pot Restaurant & many more shops. Mary grew up on a farm near Tweed, Ontario with her Parents, Brothers & Sisters.
In 1956 she decided to visit her Sister Regina Wright & Brother-in-law Walter Wright at their home in Pine Grove after Graduating from the Tweed High School. There was a position as a Caregiver to 3 young children (Linda Mae 6, Mary Lou 5 & Robert 2) whose Mother, Gladys died in a vehicle crash & left a Grieving Husband & Father Ivan Wilcox.
Mary decided to take the position & overtime there grew a Friendship that became Love. Mary & Ivan became Parents of Paul & David yet lost premature twins Joseph & Mary. They were a Family who cared for each other & those who are present in 2020 includes the Next Generation.

Respecting government Pandemic limitations on gatherings, a Family Service will be held at Rod Abrams Funeral Home Tottenham.

So sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. I regret that I haven’t kept in touch with Linda Mae and didn’t know. I’ve not been back to Woodbridge for over a year since moving away more than 4 years ago. Mary was well loved at the Wallace House and that is how I became to know her. She was feisty and stubborn yet in her way she was caring and down to earth. RIP Mary.

I regret to learn that Mary has passed away. I did not get to know Mary as my hubby & I travelled with the RCAF, so I lost touch with many relatives, my cousin Ivan being one of my favourite male cousins. I started searching today as my brother Jim phoned to let me know that Bobby Wilcox had passed on. I wil now look for his obituary. May all rest in peace.
