I was distressed to read about Ray’s passing this past week. I worked with Ray while he volunteered at Matthews House Hospice, and he was such a gift to everyone who he met while volunteering. He volunteered well into a ripe ol’ age, teaching me that you are never too old to give back. He will always be remembered with great affection. My condolances to the family.

My deepest sympathy to you Karen and all the family. I am so grateful that I was able to recently share a little time with Ray at Kingsmere before his move to Beeton. He, as always, willing to offer his strong thoughts and great humour at any opportunity. I really enjoyed our brief, but unfortunately infrequent meetings, A true gentleman, highly regarded by many, who will miss him dearly. Valerie

Karen and family. My heart is so broken for all if you at this sad time. Your dad was a ray of the brightest sunshine. As I would sit and talk to him at the retirement home he would certainly not hesitate to tell me what he thought and then we would laugh. God has received a very special angel. You are all in my thoughts at this time.

To the entire Culliton family: Bruce and I were very sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing – we have many fond memories from our “growing up” years – when Wade and Rod were friends and Raymond and Kathy as well – Marg and Ray were alway special friends to our family. Those connections from so long ago……Please accept our sincere condolences to all of your family – your parents were both such great people – salt of the earth. If it were not for Covid, I would gladly join you at the funeral but our family is a little vulnerable right now. Please know the high esteem we held your Dad in. The world has lost a wonderful light. I have such good memories of Ray. I loved when he responded to the question “How are you?” With “If I was any better I’d be twins!” It never failed to brighten my day to have a great conversation about ethics or politics with him!
When my late husband Al was in Matthews House during his final two weeks of life, he stayed in the Ray Culliton room and we and everyone who visited were made so aware of the great contribution he made to the establishment of such a wonderful facility.
I have moved away from the area and therefore will be unable to attend but I am thinking of you all.

Wade and Culliton cousins: Some of you may recall your Dad helping me cut my teeth on farming life at your place in Loretto in the mid-60’s as a youngster…and that’s about as far as I got! Seriously, he was a self-made man who courageously took a chance with his family forsaking city life for that of farming and country living and never looked back. We know you’ll be comforted by the many fond memories of he and your Mom. Please accept our deepest sympathies at this difficult time and know that we are thinking of you. Unfortunately, due to present circumstances we are unable to attend the funeral.

I am so saddened to hear this news. Your dad was an awesome man. I so enjoyed the many years I was fortunate enough to have been welcomed into his home and entertained so splendidly by him and his “clan”. My absolute favourite memory was a visit to the farm not long after he had a hip replacement. He was in very fine form. I asked if it was a big scar….he got up off his chair, dropped his pants to show me……needless to say, as we were all in tears from laughter, your mom was none too impressed. He will be missed. My heartfelt condolences to you all. ❤️

I’m so sorry to here of Ray’s passing. He was a great guy, the SHEEP BARRON of Loretto. He will always be remembered because of his community work n the help he gave to everyone. He had a great laugh n smile. He loved his sheep, donkey, lama n his faithful dogs. He’ll be remembered as the city guy who moved his family to the country, up on the windiest hill, with no farming experience. Lol. Sorry I can’t be there, but do know, Ray n all of you are in my prayers. Condolences
