I learned of the passing of a Mr. Thompson from Tottenham and remembered working at the feed mill back in the summer of 75. After a hard day of work going for a swim next door before riding my bicycle the eight miles home again. I remember Elmer fondly as a warm and honest man who treated me, and everyone I was in contact with, decently and with integrity. I am sorry that I did not hear of his passing earlier and that I was not around to give my condolences in person.

Our sincere condolences to all. From my earliest years on the Edison Hastings’ family farm, to working at the RBC in Tottenham in the 1950’s, to our ongoing friendship with Ron & Cathy Pegg, we have had fond memories of Elmer as a kind & gentle family man. His quiet manner will be sorely missed.
With our prayers & with thanks for a life well lived!

Carol, Steve, Brent and Families we would like to send you our heartfelt condolenses on the loss of your father a great man! Always had a smile on his face and when ever he saw you he would be sure to say “Hello”. I remember the days of the Old Mill and all the cats that he had looking after the place and if you went in the office you would always see an old mother cat laying in the Chair waiting to have yet another litter of kittens. And when ever I came with my Dad to get feed I always looked forward to going in and seeing them. Those are memories I will always treasure. So as you go through these next few days know that you will have a lot of people sending there prayers and thoughts your way.
Hugs to you all!
Barb Wray-Rowley and family!

I have many memories of Mr. Thompson as my good friends father, manager of our hockey team and all round great man.
My sympathies to Carol, Brent and Steven. He could make a great hockey net out of feed bags!–and put up with me around the Mill for many years.

I joined Tottenham Masonic Lodge in 1985. I met Elmer there as a Past Master. He was not only a friend but a mentor to all Masons and was recognized and bestowed the Rank of Very Worshipful Sir. Honourable, soft spoken, and yet very humble, Elmer will be remembered for ever in our community for his family and community devotion. It was a true honour to be in his company.

Our sincere condolences to all. Elmer was a fine individual, role model, and family man. I first met Elmer when we moved from the farm to Tottenham in the early 1950’s. He subsequently along with brother Ralph coached our men’s hardball team as well as doing a lot of the umpiring of games. Like us he and Norma attended the Tottenham United Church. we know his quality of life recently was not what we want for our loved ones. Remember the good times. We will be donating to Tottenham United Church in Elmer’s memory.
