    Dear Joe and family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I know how proud you must be of Joan’s many accomplishments. She cared so much about the wellbeing of the community of Tottenham which she demonstrated over an extended period of time in local and regional politics. She was also a dedicated mother and grandmother. I always admired Joan as someone who from at least the mid 1970s onward (if not earlier) recognized that women should get more actively involved in politics and in other societal realms. She was one of my earliest feminist mentors. I’m sorry I don’t live closer,Joe, to give you a big hug .
