My deepest regrets to the loss of John Milne. I always spoke to John and his wife. It was such a pleasure having them as volunteers for Canadian blood services in Tottenham at the Community Centre. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
Their kindness and efficiency were especially noticed by the donors and CBS staff. We thank you and miss you! ❤️❤️

To all of John’s family: What can we say about this man? More appropriately, what can’t we say? It has been such a pleasure to know this awesome human being. So giving of himself and his time. Volunteering in so many different ways. I think we’ll always remember him as “Mr. Tottenham”. He has set a fine example not just for his family but for all of us to follow. Even if we all volunteer a fraction of the time John did, this will be a better world. Thank you John for showing us how it’s done. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Rest in peace dear friend.
We know Janice & family, Tara, Moira and family’s and the rest of all John’s family will hold the memory of his twinkling eyes, quick wit, laughter & your own special moments close to your hearts.

We fondly remember John’s leadership and mentorship in our time with the Tottenham United Church, from reading passages, to Santa, to time in the kitchen, and times at the many meetings of the church.
His voice was memorable, with only kind words of encouragement, and a smile on his face. A true gentleman.

There are times in life when family is not determined by blood relations and this is one of those times. I was introduced to “Uncle John” by my future wife in 1986. My family has ties to Aberdeen, Scotland so I was instantly enamored by his brogue accent. John and Marion were dear friends of my then future in-laws Bob and Pat Fisher. But to their daughters Yvonne and Jill they would always be Uncle John and Auntie Marion. John and Marion were there for all of our families’ milestones, in person or in spirit. When our children were little it was all I could do not to tell them that Uncle John was Santa Claus! He had such an impact on so many people in that role, but not only as Santa but as John Milne. He imbodied what it meant to be a part of the community. Such a kind sole, a heart the size of his homeland! Our prayers are for God to draw close in the coming days to the entire Milne clan.

We remember John in the time we were clergy family at Tottenham and Rich Hill United Churches 1993-2002. John was a very humane person actively involved in the church and the community. He shared his blood platelets over so many, many years. He enjoyed being Santa Claus for the community not only in the annual Santa Claus parade but venturing on the Tottenham-Beeton Christmas Express train and bringing joy to children in Sick Kids Hospital on Christmas morning. Of course we can’t forget his acting prowess in local theatre. A life well lived. Rest in peace good friend.

Dear Moira, Tara, Janice & Families,
My very deepest sympathies on the passing of my dear friend, John (or JAM as I called him). Our friendship started in 1966 when we worked together at Bell Canada in Montreal and grew from there. For years, we would get together every summer as our families grew – John & Marian would come to visit us in Montreal (along with the girls) and we would visit them (with our children) in Tottenham. Goodbyes were always teary!! In later years, our visits were restricted to my occasional visits to the Toronto area; but the memories are and will be always there.
    Much love to all,

It is hard to put into words the sorrow we feel at the loss of John. To begin with, he was our neighbour in Tottenham for over 36 years. He and Marion were founding members of the Blackhorse Village Players and gave so much to the community through their talents and dedication both on and off the stage. I remember John ” addressing the Haggis” on Robbie Burns Day. I’m not sure what he said during the address but it was certainly entertaining. John was a family man who adored his children and grandchildren. Our sincere condolences go out to Janice, Tara and Moira and their respective families. The bagpipes are echoing through heaven! John was such a special person. It was already so nice to see him at church and hear him read. He was always so dedicated to the church and helped whenever he could. He will be missed.

John was incredibly loved by many and he equally gave that love in return. My heart breaks for Tara, my brother and their girls, and Moira and her family. Their loss is immense yet i know they must have a tremendous amount of beautiful memories to hold on to as well that will keep them strong. Sending love from me and my family to you all.
