With sadness the children of Lawrence (Larry) Graystone announce his passing October 19th 2020. Peacefully at home, with his daughter Christine by his side.

Dear Graystone Family, I just found out about Larry’s passing and want to offer you my heartfelt condolences. I met Larry on my first day at Banting in 1964 and will always remember him as the person who welcomed me and made me feel that I was in a good place. Although I moved away from our farm and Alliston many years ago, Larry and my time at Banting are still very much in my memory. Love from Sibylle Artz

A truly unique person, Lawrence was a loyal friend, always ready to help; and with his cheerful disposition, always able to bring laughter and enjoyment to any situation. Second only to viewing hockey games and “The Price is Right”, he especially enjoyed a long ride down country roads, followed by a laughter-filled meal at one of his favorite restaurants. During the forty or so years that we knew him, he was always a hard worker whether for pay or not, dedicated to accomplishing any task under his “supervision” – resulting in endless friendly arguments. Being somewhat of a nomad, with great regularity his “annual” moves to a new residence required our assistance to load and unload his “antiques” (he would call them) – always an occasion for more non-stop debate on how best to accomplish the task. A true reflection of his generosity and one of his proudest accomplishments, he donated a kidney to a improve the life of a nephew. We will forever cherish his time shared with us.

Although I haven’t seen Larry for many years I remember our grade 8 visiting day at Banting…we were in Mr. Inkster’s class (french teacher) and Mr. Inkster started speaking in french. Larry lost it and started to laugh and the more french was spoken the more Larry laughed. We were all kicked out of the class. He was always up for a fun time. My deepest sympathy to the Gravestone family.

Thank you all for the condolences and thoughtful words. Yes my Dad’s love and commitment for hockey and boxing was remarkable. As is for everyone – life was not without ups and downs for our family too, but my Dad was a genuinely kind person with a charismatic and loving personality.
