I met Louie and his friend Aldo over 50 years ago. Louie was a wonderful man who enjoyed life to the fullest. I was glad that we had the opportunity to connect a few years ago…My heart goes out to his family

So sad to hear about the passing of Louie. I spent a lot of time with him in the early 2000’s. he loved his Rottweiler Rico. I was a teenager and Louie was my dad’s childhood friend from the dufferin and st Clair area and I lived in his home he opened the doors to in Rosemont. He restored a century home.
He also built a massive deck for my parents home.
He was such a talented and generous man. I remember driving in his BMW blasting Annie Lennox with his custom sound system while he would hilariously go off on a tangent about something that was pissing him off.
I lost touch with Louie after I moved back to BC, but from what I hear from my parents is that he was still doing what he loved.
I am so sorry for this sudden tragic loss

Lou my friend and mentor you were always there when I needed you. It is rare in
life that you meet someone that the bond is so strong. I will always remember
the time we were fortunate enough to spend together. I will miss that laugh and
your giving selfless nature. You made me a better person. Rest in peace buddy.

I met Louie on the same day I met his pal Dave Curtis. (May 9, 1963).
They were inseparable growing up together in the St Clair and Dufferin area.
They enjoyed many a trip to the Curtis family farm in Wingham Ontario not to mention the delicious meals around the Morettin family table.
When Dave and I got married on September 7, 1968, Lou was our Best Man and after church I ended up in the back of his shiny ’67 Mustang. My wedding gown took up the whole back seat and I have no idea how I got in or out of the car that day.
We were honoured to be asked to become Jean Paul’s Godparents. There was a special bond with St. Clare’s Church and Father Marino (Moe) Polito.
Lou recently spent time with Dave in the last days of his life and I met Carol at Dave’s funeral visitation. The guys were still best friends and died within 35 days of each other this summer. Seems like God wanted them to be together in eternity.
Our family offers their sincere condolences including a special Mass for Lou celebrated by our son, Father Ed Curtis. (Archdiocese of Toronto)
Rest in Peace dear loyal friend.

To the family of Louis Morettin,
On behalf of the Schomberg Horticulatural Society, I wish to extend our sincere condolences to Carol Clapham and the extended family. Louis took part in this year’s garden tour and generously opened the door to his fabulous back yard to welcome visitors to his very special place. All our garden tour guests were just enthralled with Louis’ artistic expression, his passion for design and ingenious way of upcycling materials.
One of his designs was prominently featured in the local newspaper after the tour.
His incredible talents and generous spirit will be missed.

Jean Paul Justin and family. My deepest condolences for the loss of your father. I got to do some work for your father on his projects and if I never said it was perfect he wasn’t happy. That was our joke we shared. May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to everyone for the loss of Louis.

He was an amazing person and a wonderful man who loved my mother and this family dearly. Throughout the years, i have never seen my mother as happy as she was as with Louis. Words can not express how thankful i am to have had him in my life and how much he did for this family. He made a profound impact on all of our lives for the better, and he was taken from us too soon. Throughout the years, I came to know him as a father figure, and I loved him as such.

    He will be missed.

Lou gave me a bucket of bolts and matching nuts some time ago. I can just see him meticulously matching them. Who is going to teach me what end of the hammer to use! I miss you my long term friend.

I have known Louis for 20 years or more. He did some work for me and I was always impressed by his skill and attention to detail. But more than that it was always enjoyable to just stop for a chat. His death is a tragic loss and I send my deepest sympathy to his family.
