Downing, Margaret “Marg/Margie” – Peacefully at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the age of 74 years. Beloved partner of Ivan Hounsome. Dear sister of Anne ( the late Ford Hutchings). Much loved daughter of the late Rev. Frederick F. Downing and Kathleen “Kit” Downing. Missed by her nephews Stephen (Dana), Michael ( the late Larry Lantz), and her great-nieces Hannah and Lauren. The absence of Marg will be felt by the whole neighbourhood. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alliston Humane Society or to Doctors without Borders. In keeping with Marg’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Maggie, we walked a long road together. Even though I did not see you much in these later years, I knew you were always there if I needed you and hopefully you knew I was there for you if you needed me. I will miss you. I just learned of Marg’s passing and I wanted you to know I’m thinking of you (and Blossom).
I had the pleasure of meeting Marg a few times before she took ill when she would walk Blossom and I with my Lilly.
It was easy to quickly learn what a fun loving lady she was.
Marg was fortunate to have you in her life as her friend and caregiver.
You brought the “outside in to her” during the time she had to remain indoors. With you out with Blossom and conversing with neighbors, you could keep her updated on the outside happenings.
Hold steadfast in the days ahead Ivan and may you find solace within the people/friends you know.
