I just heard of Paul’s passing, and I am still in shock. When one of my Piano Parents pass, I tell the students we need to keep on playing so dad can hear your music and not feel lonely. I look forward to seeing Daniel and Meghan and you too Brenda, but will miss Paul’s unique musical terminology and smile!!!!

The passing of Paul Bellis takes from this world a truly humane soul. Passion, intellect, and humor have rarely been so combined in one individual.

To experience pure joy, was to be with Paul on a locomotive. His love of his family and his craft could be seen there.

I will miss the connection of language I had with Paul. The extrapolation of a word or a phrase, contextualizing current meanings from staid, old concepts. From the mundane to the esoteric, all ideas were to be explored, parsed, and expounded.

Brenda, Meghan, Daniel: My prayers are with you in this most difficult of times.

I had a great respect for Paul since he joined our family. He walked in grace, intelligence, compassion, with a dash of humour, no matter the situation. He had that Gordon Lightfoot, nasal, quiet speaking voice that made you pay attention so not to miss the story or the twist at the end! I am so sorry for your loss, but I’m sure he’s left you with what you need to carry on. His spirit and strength will live on in you all. You are in my thoughts and prayers. My sincere condolences to the Bellis family as well. With much Love, Aunt Janice

It is so hard to be at Kawagama lake and not think of Paul. As a child I remember him being the big brother (cousin) who always laughed and smiled and took a genuine love of showing me (and Sandy/John) how to build stick villages in the sand, or show us the nature around us. How Paul would later drive up after dark and join us all at the campfire and pull out his guitar and sing. Brenda, Daniel,Meghan, you know of these great traits and so many more he possessed and shared.
Paul is deeply missed and loved. As so many generations have said and still do; “he is watching from where he is.”
He has walked with us all this time on our side of the street. He still walks with us. The only difference is he is now just walking on the other side of the same street.
It may be difficult to hear him from there and you can’t hold his hand, but he is still here, still listening, still watching. By the way, he’s not alone over there. He’s got quite a gathering of others who you have loved and miss. Paul is in good company.
