I am deeply saddened by the passing of “Barney”. I looked forward to seeing him every morning in the Bistro at Kingsmere Retirment Suites where he would ask “Did you walk?” and then smile big!! I remember last spring enrolling him on line for his 50th reunion in Toronto, and how proud he was that he was well enough to attend. Many a great conversations with a knowledgeable, caring and friendly man. I will miss you my friend. May you rest in peace.

Sorry to here of Barney’s passing. Barney was president of Hagerman Ratepayers here in Whitestone for a few years and was directing us towards a more environmental approach to the community. He was a class guy,and his contributions to the community were greatly appreciated.

Barney and Mary had a cottage on our lake. We spent time together discussing birds, wildlife and plants. I have Lilly’s and Loopins in my garden that he gave me. My mother had the apartment next to his at Kingsmere Assisted Living in Alliston.
He will be missed by the Whitestone Conservation Association and all his friends on Whitestone Lake.
May he rest in peace.

I am deeply saddened to read of Barney’s passing. I worked in the Whitney Block for the Ministry of Natural Resources from 1977 to 1987 and again from 1990 to 1992 and got to know Barney in this time. He was one of the finest gentlemen I have had the pleasure to have known. I enjoyed many lunches with Barney at the Queen’s Park cafeteria and always enjoyed his thoughtful insights. He once gave me a calendar of duck carvings. My deepest condolences to his family.

I was saddened to hear that Barney has passed. I knew him not as a fellow surveyor; but as a fellow Whitestone Lake resident. Barney worked hard for the Hagerman’s Ratepayers Assoc. (later Whitestone Conservation) He was always availble to lend a helping hand. My sympathies to the family.

I am sad to learn of Barney’s death. Barney was a great gentleman and an invaluable asset to surveying in Ontario. I remember him as my first party chief on my first surveying summer job (Trans Northern Pipeline).
He was always prepared to listen and instruct, and spent his evenings studying for the AOLS final exams rather than join the rest of us playing cards. When I became an OLS he was always helpful at Lands and Forests. He will be missed by the profession.
Mike Maughan, PEng. OLS (ret’d) Past President, AOLS .
