Celebration of Life Service
The family of Violet Gann wants to thank God for her 93 years. Several days before she left this earth she made us laugh when she said, “Beam me up Jesus.” He did that on August 16, 2015 in her home surrounded by her family and angels. She was looking forward to seeing Jesus and being reunited with her parents, brothers and sisters. Now she is free.
There will be an informal celebration of life at 2pm on Sunday, August 30th, 2015, downstairs at Hillside Community Church (located at 2314 Tottenham Rd. in Tottenham, ON). Come and share a funny memory of a wonderful lady with us.
In Violet’s Memory, donations can be made to Hillside Community Church.
Elaine Socol says
To Vi’s family, I am the wife of Dr Harvey Socol, who was a family doctor in Richmond Hill for many years. My husband passed away almost 2 years ago. I just discovered your mom’s passing.. My sincerest condolences. Your mom worked in my husband’s office from about 1962 until our family moved to Southern California in 1977. She was wonderful! When we had a fire at the office, Vi was there for us 24/7 and helped us over the hurdle, working continuously at our home to help us recover our patients’ records. This was before computers and quite a difficult job. Vi previously worked for my father at his dress and sportswear manufacturing on Spadina Avenue in Toronto. When my father, Hy Rossman retired, he thought so highly of your mom (known as Vi Jones at that time) that he recommended that we hire her for Harvey’s new practice. Harvey did and what a great decision that was! Vi set the tone in the office and everyone enjoyed working there for many years. I wanted you to know how much our family thought of your mom. She was a charm. The picture you posted of your mom says it all. Beautiful!
Wendy Massey says
I am so sorry for your heartbreaking loss, it is never easy to say good bye to the people we love so deeply. But knowing your Mom is now with God must be so comforting to all the people she loved so much
My thoughts, love and prayers are with the whole family, and sending you special hugs
God Bless
Viola Stephens says
The loss of a mother is particularly hard. She is the person who has loved you longer than anyone else in the world, for she loved you before you came into it, cradled in her womb, and continued to love you until the day she died. It is a heavy loss.
Dr. Mark & Carol says
It has been my honour and privilege to have taken care of Vi the last number of years. What a beautiful and Godly woman inside and out. She leaves quite a legacy with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. And as I write this, I’m sure she’s arm in arm and dancing and singing with our Lord and Saviour. God bless you Vi and your whole family. I’m truly honoured to know you and to love you. See you soon! And Vi, I’ll see you too, just maybe not so soon?!?!
Steve and Marty says
Vi was blessed to have been surrounded and supported by a loving and devoted family…well done to all of you! Now the real adventure begins…and I’m sure Vi will embrace all of it with such joy! Love to all of you as you deal with the loss that her passing has made in your lives.

I remember the first time Vi came to my chair fitness class, she was 89. She enjoyed excersising with the ball very much. She told me she used to play basketball when she was young. After that day she was a regular participant of the fitness classes. She was always very funny and made everybody so happy. We will all miss her terribly.
Shirley Neufeld says
I enjoyed her wonderful smile and laughter. My memory was that she was so good to the children when they were small. Love your Susan, hugs…
John Gann says
Ah, sadness. I remember, most notably, all the good times spent with the Jones’ family whilst I was growing up. Vi and her joyous home was like a second family and home to me. God bless, Vi.

I remember Vi’s good sense of humor. She was a lovely lady. I remember when we had a fundraiser, and we decided to put on a skit of old church ladies singing in a choir. When Vi came on stage she was wearing sign that read “Real Old Lady”. She made us laugh.

So sorry to hear about your Moms’ passing. She was quite a lady. I had many fine conversations with her when I worked for Red Cross Home Help, cleaning her home. With the help of her family, she was able to be in her home, living independently for many years. And how she loved having her hair washed and set !! She will be fondly remembered.
