William ‘Bill’ Argent

In Memorial

Argent WilliamArgent: William John “Bill”, Died peacefully at Bradford Valley Care Community, Bradford, Ontario, on February 20th, 2024, in his 81st year. Bill was a long time dairy farmer and worked with his wife Mary near Schomberg and on the Scotch Line in Alliston. Beloved son of the late John and Marion Argent. Bill was born in Brampton and farmed with his parents in Albion and later near Schomberg, Ontario. He was unconditionally loved by his wife Mary Anne Argent (nee: Naylor). Loving father of Bob Argent (Becky Black), Janice McLeod (Robert), Julie Sharpe, Jackie Calhoun (Ryan). “Buck / Poppa” will be forever missed by his grandchildren Dallas and Ally McLeod, Stewart and Mitchell Calhoun, whom he loved spending time with. Remembered by his sisters- Marilyn (Don) Jacobs, Betty Jemmett, Donna (Phil) Williams, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his sister Marjorie Bray and brothers-in-law Allan Bray and Bill Jemmett. We will always cherish our memories of our husband, father, Buck/Poppa, brother, and friend.

Bill will be remembered for his smile, quick wit and love for his family. He was a hard worker both on the farm and during his 25+ years as a cement truck driver for James Dick Aggregates. He loved his cows but had a special fondness for draft horses and loved to participate in parades and wagon rides.

The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham 905-936-3477 on Saturday February 24, 2024 with Visitation from 9:30am until the time of Funeral Service in the chapel at 12pm. Reception will be held in the Cliffside Hall at the funeral home, followed by interment at Alliston Union Cemetery.

I was very surprised to hear this from a relative of Ray’s and so very sorry to the family. He was at our place when he worked for James Dick. That was the last time I saw him, but his pictures tell me he didn’t change very much from the first times I saw him which was on a few dates that we went on years ago. Used to also see them at dances at Schomberg. Those were the days….

Our dearest sympathy to Mary and family. I have many fond memories with Bill and the argent family while on the farm at Alliston. Bill always had lots of stories to tell, usually ending in that contagious laugh. The Belgian horses brought a valuable friendship between my dad and Bill.
    May you rest in peace.

Remembering Bill with Trevor Hollingshead and Trevor’s many stories of growing up with Bill. Trevor still remembers with great fondness (back in the 50’s), Bill’s beautiful new red and white Ford truck and the ‘joy ride’ Bill took him on in it as a kid.

May Bill rest in peace knowing that he lived a full life and that he was the type of person that knew how to enjoy life with his family and friends.

It was so sad to hear the news that Bill had left us. He was so well like by the people on our street, especially his quick wit and his extensive knowledge based on his diverse working career. Many delightful chats we had on his front veranda. Mary continued this friendly relationship when Bill had to go to Bradford . Our thoughts and Prayers are with all of at this stressful time.
