Anne Van Dyk (Kenny)
After residing at the Bradford Valley Care Community for the past seven months, Anne passed away on October 26, 2026, at the age of 87.
She was the devoted wife of the late Peter Van Dyk and caring mother to Peter Jr. (Pamela), and Joseph (Maria). Anne was a wonderful grandma to Victoria (Joost Van Dorp), Rebecca (Chris Joksas), and Samantha (Ian Censner). Her steady presence in their lives will be missed greatly. Although not able to be active in Timothy Van Dorp’s life, he did meet his great-grandma a few times over the past year.
Anne will be forever in the hearts of her three siblings: Peter Kenny (Bev), Christena (the late Bill Jonkman), and Marie (the late Terry Charlton). She will be fondly remembered by her brothers-in-law Len Van Dyk (Candace), Andrew Magee (the late Annie Van Dyk), Marinus Van Bakel (the late Johanna Van Dyk), and her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (the late Reagh Mann), Maria (the late Dieter Wiedeman), Narda, Lena (Henry Sterling), and Mary (the late John Van Dyk). Of course she will be missed by her cat “Goldie.”
Anne was the eldest child of the late Vincent Kenny and the late Christena Kenny. She grew up in Beeton, Ontario, and moved to Toronto where she began her teaching career. After moving to Schomberg, Anne was one of the first teachers at St. Patrick’s School. As the school wasn’t ready in September 1967, her class of Grade 2’s were in the basement of St. Patrick’s Church. Anne
continued teaching for many years in Schomberg and then St. Margaret Mary Elementary School in Woodbridge.
Anne was a very talented piano player. Her piano/organ playing has played a role in many funerals, weddings, and school celebrations. Over the years, many of her former students would ask her to play at their wedding. Performing children’s music and reading children’s books to her granddaughters and students brought her so much joy.
Anne’s other talent was organizing. Whether organizing trips, celebrations, tours, family get togethers, and many other events, she was in her element!
Anne enjoyed travelling. Her and Peter travelled extensively over the course of their lives. Always meeting new friends whose names would then be added to their address book. Another Christmas card, with a photo of the two of them and an old car on the front, to send out! Even though Anne was always on the go, volunteering was important to her. After retiring from teaching, she continued to volunteer with various schools and, for many years, played for the weekly mass at Simcoe Manor.
Thank you to all the staff on the 6th floor at Southlake Hospital. A heartfelt thank you to all personnel at Bradford Valley Care Community. Your extensive care of Anne over these past seven months was exceptional. To all the nurses and personal support workers, you make a difference.

Our deepest sympathies to Anne’s family,
“When you’ve touched the hearts of many, you are forever memorable”.
It is with pronounced sadness that we learned the world has lost a good woman and a first-class lady.
Anne spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and a deep sense of integrity and humanity to everything he did.
Anne will be affectionately remembered for her enthusiastic singing, spirited laughter, and for all the genuine love she poured into her first-rate get togethers, teddy bear picnics, theatre socials, bridge games, and superb dinners that she meticulously organized and hosted on an inspiring scale at her home. But Anne will first and foremost be revered for leaving this world brighter, kinder, and better for knowing her.
To Anne’s sons Peter and Joe (and their families), may God bring comfort in the many cherished memories Anne has left you with, and may your days and nights be made peaceful remembering all the milestones fulfilled together, adventures explored, and a life lived with so much love and grace that all you ever truly needed in this lifetime was each other.
With a heavy heart, we are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers as you journey on in life once again with Anne’s loving spirit watching over you and sending you comfort…Something Anne always knew how to do extraordinarily well.
Anne left a lasting impression, and her spirit will be remembered with great affection.
❤️We send our blessings, prayers and love during this difficult time,
Tony, Jacqueline and Leighton
