My deepest condolence on your loss. Life is a journey, a journey from birth to death. For us our promised land is not on this earth, our promised land where milk and honey flow is heaven, where God resides. Between our birth and our death we are pilgrims on the road to God. We are but travelers on a journey, pilgrims on a pilgrimage to God.

For that reason, the Apostle Paul describes life as a tent we live in (2 Cor 5:1). If somebody lives in a tent it is because they are traveling and intend to move from place to place and a tent is only a temporary dwelling. It was a good description by Paul for the fact that we are only pilgrims in this world, on a journey to God.

Because we are but travelers, only pilgrims on our journey through life, knowing that our final destiny is with God, we keep our sight always fixed not just on the appearance of this life, but on the fact that we were created by a Holy God for His glory and praise. We cannot be truly happy unless we live as God wishes us to live to offer our lives holy and pleasing unto God as our spiritual act of worship. God loves us unconditionally and wants only what is good for us to give us a hope and a future. Let us keep our eyes fixed on the fact that our destiny is eternal life and not just death. As the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 23, surely goodnes and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. What is important is to have faith in Jesus Christ, God’s beloved Son for though Him we have eternal life when we repent and accept Him as our personal Lord and Saviour (John 3:16). Further, God has given the Holy Spirit as your comforter because God is the God of all comfort. May this bring hope and encouragement to Barb’s loved ones and to all who choose to be God’s children through their faith in Jesus Christ (John 1:12). Again, my deepest sympathy.

Although we loved Barb dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
