Calvin Butcher

In Memorial

butcher picButcher: Calvin Redvers,
February 17, 1949 – April 17, 2016
Our Dearest Calvin passed away on Sunday April 17, 2016 at 9:42am at Matthews House Hospice Alliston. He passed peacefully with his family by his side as always. We honour a dear husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Calvin fought the battle of pancreatic cancer with such courage. He is the beloved husband of Yvonne Butcher. Loving father of Craig (Susan), Stuart (Kristen Haire), and Kyle (Erika). Dear grandfather of Ethan, Rachel, Jacob, and Alexis. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in law Maureen Canclini (Giovanni), his extended family and many friends.
He had angels with him along his journey through our family friends in the community, and those at Southlake Hospital- Stronach Regional Cancer Centre Newmarket and at Matthews House Hospice Alliston. His care was second to none. The love, compassion and dedication from each of our special nurses and doctors is treasured by our family. Thank-you to the palliative team who stood by our side both day and night, and for Dr. Nishikawa’s kindness to the very end of life.
The Family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham 905-936-3477 on Wednesday April 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday April 21, 2016 at 2pm.
As Calvin requested, for those who wish, donations only are requested for Matthews House Hospice or the Stronach Cancer Care Centre. And if available please join our family on May 1st for the walk for the Hospice.

Cal was a very special person and he was one of the odd few who knew how to brighten the mood in any situation. It’s a shame to have to say goodbye so soon but he will always be in our hearts and our thoughts. I’m extremely grateful to have so many great memories with Yvonne and Calvin. And I often look back at the multiple times when Yvonne, my brother, and I would wait for him to get home from work, we were so excited we would run to meet him in the garage before he even got the chance to get out of his car! I truly miss those days. Much love to Yvonne and the family.

Dear Yvonne, Craig, Stuart, Kyle, Erica, Susan, Kristen, Ethan, Rachel, Jacob and Alexis,
We have been so blessed getting to know all of you over the past three years. You are an incredible family and it has been an absolute joy watching you all live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment. Cal invited us over for dinner on the first day we moved in next door, and you all accepted us like we were part of your extended family. We will be forever grateful for your kindness and acceptance.
After yesterday’s amazing tributes, we only wish we had met Cal many, many, years ago. We will hold our memories of Cal in our hearts and minds every day, and we pray that the pain of losing him will get a tiny bit easier; as you continue to tell stories and share all the amazing things he did to improve the lives of those he loved.
    Love the Kennett’s

    Dear Yvonne,

I only recently heard about Cal’s condition and I am very saddened today to hear of his passing.
In the 20 years I had the privilege of knowing Cal both at work in & around the industry, as well as a few precious times on the course or a patio on a beautiful sunny day at some event. He is one of those rare people that leaves a lifelong impression on your life that inspired and taught at the same time. From his Aviation knowledge he shared, to his big and loud outlook on life, to his great sense of humor, to those whom knew him enough as a real life big walking “Teddy Bear”.
The picture posted here says it all in that Big Cal Smile, and he will be greatly missed by more than he would ever realize.

Sending you deepest sympathy – you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Calvin is now at peace with no pain. Remember the happy times; remember the jokes and stories he told; remember that great rumbling laugh. He will live on in all of our memories.
    Love Diane and family

Cal was such a nice man with a great sense of humour. We will miss him very much at the Beeton Lawn Bowling Club. We are so glad that we saw him just a few weeks ago.

Dear Yvonne and Family….We thought so highly of Cal and admired his strength, sense of humour and determination as he fought this dreadful disease to the end. We both wish we had known him longer and would have enjoyed good times with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Pat and Wayne
