Carol Dion

In Memorial

Dion, Carol Elizabeth
(nee Aiken)

Passed away peacefully at The Pines Long Term Care Home in Bracebridge on Tuesday January 18, 2022 with her family by her side. Carol was in her 81st year.
Sadly missed by her husband Don of 60 years, daughters Sandra (Alan), Cindy (Graham) and son Curt (Kelly). She will be greatly missed by her 7 grandchildren, Aaron, Jessica, Juli, Gabriel, Chenley, Kelby & Riley and her 5 great grandchildren, Osten, Kinley, Ava, Rosalyn & Isabel. Predeceased by sisters Marie (Bill) & Phyllis (Ralph) and brother Jim (Mae) and much loved by brother in law Osten & sister in law Mae.
Carol and her sister Sheila made the journey together that night and we know they will be arm in arm laughing up a storm.
Born & raised in Beeton, Ontario to Jim & Evelyn Aiken, Carol moved to Schomberg when she married Don and they enjoyed living within that community for 34 years, and made some very long lasting friendships. The move to Port Carling, Ontario came when Don retired and Carol transferred to the Post Office there. Carol made many friends wherever she went and Port Carling quickly became home. She loved living by the lake. Carol was always so busy whether it be at one of her jobs at the insurance office or the Post Office or running to hockey, baseball, soccer, figure skating, dance lessons, girl guides, etc. with her children or fitting in time for herself on a church committee or curling.
Many thanks to the staff at The Pines LTC for the exceptional care and love they have shown not only to Carol but her entire family.
For those who wish, and in lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s memory may be made to The Pines Long Term Care Home in Bracebridge by calling (705) 645-4488 or the Alzheimer’s Society in Bracebridge.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, visitation will be held on Saturday January 29th, 2022 between 12 pm -2 pm at Rod Abrams Funeral Home 1666 Tottenham Road, Tottenham. All attendees must register online by or by calling the Funeral Home during regular business hours at 905-936-3477. Bookings will be for a half hour time period. Please click here to Register. It was so great to see all of you yesterday and reminisce about old hockey and baseball times. Except the time that the teeter totter in King City broke Cindy’s nose!!! Carol was always so much fun and welcoming at our sleep overs. She enjoyed driving us and participating in all our extra curricular activities and I will will always have great memories of those times.

Warmest love and condolences to Uncle Donny, San, Cindy, Curt and families.

Jan and I often reminisce about spending weekends in Schomberg when we were growing up and always felt so welcomed and part of your family. We have really great memories of Aunt Carol making sure we were all having good fun, even when we were doing the dishes. 🙂

Aunts Carol and Sheila would come to Dundas together and visit our Mama when she was sick. It makes me smile to think that they are all together again. ❤️

You are very blessed having so much love to hold onto.

The rest of us could barely breathe watching you two sweep around the dance floor on a Saturday night. The grace! The romance! Your faces!
Hoping that the melodies brought you joy for you truly deserved!
So many ‘ hats to lie down ‘!

When I think of Carol Dion, I think of unbridled joy, bliss, her beautiful smile , that glistening sparkle that shone from her eyes, welcoming everyone into her world. Her infectious spirit lifted everyone up and that smile was contagious!
We had many laughs when we would think about sharing the Lisk cousins and her two beautiful daughters became great friends of mine in the ‘good old’ arena days.
I know there have been some tough years. We humans seem to often have to endure much to make our exit but undoubtedly Carol has earned her reward. Honestly, I feel quite blessed and humbled, that I knew Carol Dion and shared some of her earthly space. Whereever Carol goes, she will emit joy, love and her ever positive spirit.

Carol was a bright and loving spirit that always brought a joyful smile and laugh to our Lisk gatherings. There is something very spiritual and fitting that she and Sheila should be off to the ‘pearly gates’ together, being greeted by all the loved ones that have gone on before. She and Sheila will be missed by all of us who were so fond of them. Loving, healing hugs to you all.

Our sincere condolences to Don and family on Carols Passing. Our memories of Carol are very special as she used to look after Dave and me when we were in Beeton in our younger years and as we got older we had great times at the reunion playing golf and volleyball at the lisk reunion.
She had an infectious laugh and we loved to kid around. Carol will be missed but we know that as she joins Sheila and those who have passed she will be organizing reunions in heaven and just having a ball. Rest in peace Carol. We will always remember you with warm hearts.
