We are undoubtedly all still getting over the shock of Dan’s passing, just a few days before our next planned golf trip to FLA. During many memorable golf trips with Dan, I always admired how he approached life with a fun-first mentality and constant generosity. His friendship is something I and the boys will sorely miss.

    Dear Mike, Pat, Paul

I was deeply saddened to hear of Danny’s death. It’s always sad when I lose a past student! It sounds like he kept his infectious smile and kind-hearted nature past the primary years at St. James School, Colgan. May god give you strength, faith, courage & peace in the lonely days ahead.

    Love & prayers

Dan and I had some great memories. I had lost touch these last few years but I would see him now and then and we would always have a laugh. I am sorry to hear this news. He was so young and full of life. I wish his family all the best and hope they find strength in this time, losing a son, brother and friend.

Dan was one of the smartest, passionate, funniest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to call a friend and colleague. We worked together at Bell, Nortel & Avaya and through it all, Dan’s exuberance for life always shone through. I have partied and golfed with Dan in every major city across America and sudden passing saddens me greatly. He will be remembered fondly. I am so sorry for your loss. Michele Hepburn

If you’d never met Dan and relied on the tributes listed here, rest assured if your thoughts were that Dan was quite the person; humorous, intelligent, thoughtful, respectful, sincere, a joy to be around and a tremendous loss to us all – you would be right on.

To the family my sincere sympathy for your tremendous loss of Dan.
I recall having the fortune to work with Dan at Nortel and most recently at Ciena. You wanted Dan on your team because you knew you were going to be successful, he was that good. As a person he was comedic and always kept a positive attitude. Dan you will be missed.

I truly don’t know where to begin. Dan was such a huge part of my life on so many levels and he will always hold a special place in both Matt’s and my heart. The loss of his friendship will be one that can never be replaced or will ever be forgotten. I will forever treasure the many fun times we shared throughout 30 years of friendship, and his ability to bring strength and laughter back into my life during some of my most difficult of times. My heart goes out to you Pat and Mike, Paul and Marie, and Hannah and Bree, and I promise to always contribute to keeping Uncle Dan’s wonderful memory alive and cherished. He loved you all so very much.

    My dear friend:

It doesn’t take much for a smile, a giggle or a ‘oh my god, I can’t believe you just said that’ to come flooding through my memory. There was no ambiguity or blending in with the woodwork, was there, buddy. We wouldn’t have wanted you any other way.

So many tears of laughter in my kitchen with Lorrie and the gang playing euchre and you would get frustrated at a wrong play and tell us ‘if my Granny was here right now…., ’ Dan, just to let you in on a little secret; sometimes we purposefully threw bad cards to get a reaction from you.

And when we went to Toronto with Brett and it was too late to order dinner and we were starving so you had this brilliant idea and ordered martinis for the three of us so we could eat the olives. After drinking our dinner, we couldn’t remember where our hotel was so we jumped in a cab and told the driver to take us to The King Eddy, so he did a u-turn, stopped and said ‘ok, you’re here.’

Thank-you for the countless memories. You’re a good man and an even better friend.

You always reminded me of what your father told you; ”You will have many friends through the course of your life, however, on one hand you count those who are true and life-long.” Well Dan, you needed many more hands.

Thank-you for affording me the privilege of your friendship and love.

I’m gonna miss you so much.

With all my love, my friend. Wayne

At the rising of the sun and its going down, we remember you.
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of Winter, we remember you.
At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of Spring, we remember you.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, we remember you.
At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of Autumn, we remember you.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember you.
As long as we live, You too will live; for you are now a part of us,
as we remember you, for now and forever..

The days working with Dan for many years at Nortel were a tremendous reward. His laughter and compassion were his trademark. Our world has lost a friend.

To laugh often and much, to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world. – Ralph Waldorf Emerson

He was such a positive influence in one’s time of need and always knew when it was the right time to take your hand. He could brighten up the darkest of days and I will always be grateful to have had Dan in my life. He will forever have a place in my heart.

Dan was both an outstanding co-worker and great friend. Dan had unmatched passion for his work, and earned ‘legendary’ status in networking sales. His customers loved his focus and energy and rewarded him well for always putting them first.
On the personal side we shared many golf trips to Florida, Myrtle Beach, Vegas and my cottage. Dan will be sorely missed by all who he touched.

From Dan’s first day at Nortel I knew I liked him and that he was one of the best things to happen to Nortel in years. He was so intelligent, intuitive and absolutely the best technology sales guy I have ever in all my years had the pleasure to work with. Dan’O was always working on the latest and greatest of technology – he could out configure most engineers and his customers absolutely loved him. One of the high points of my work life was being able to actually in a minor role work with Dan. He taught me so much.
Dan’s sense of humor and ability to brighten a dark day was legendary – many long meetings were put into perspective and made to feel shorter as we all laughed.
His warmth, caring and love of life made a difference in many lives. Dan was always there to help.
My deepest sympathy on your loss,

Dan was my first and most trusted “career” friend. We both started in Telecom on the same day and we learned together. We extended that work friendship to a strong personal friendship over the years.

I always admired Dan for his work ethic, intelligence, humour and integrity. If anyone could inject humour and fun into a regular situtation .. it was Dan’O

My best to all his family and I will always remember our fun times shared.

    With Deepest Regrets,
