Bachly: David Burwell
Surrounded by the love of his family on December 12, 2022 at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Marilyn Bachly. Loving father of Scott (Jackie), Kelly (Mike) Foley, Tracy (Dan) McNulty and the late Dean (Anna). Cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Dear brother of the late John Bachly (Joyce) Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and extended family.
Per David’s wishes a private family funeral service will take place. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Saturday April 22, 2023 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at the Barrie Country Club 635 St Vincent St N, Barrie, ON L4M 4Y1. In lieu of flowers, donations to Smilezone Foundation, 557 Chartwell Rd, Oakville, ON L6J 4A8 would be appreciated by the family.

I don’t know what made me decide to look Dave up on the internet today but I did not expect to find what I did. Dave and I are or were First cousins as our mothers were both Burwells. Not surprised that he built such a large family as family was always important to him. He and Marilyn spent their honeymoon with our grandmother in Renfrew a d Castleford. The last time we were together was about ten years ago when they stopped in Arnprior for a visit. My sympathies for your loss. Because of our age difference of ten years we did not spend a great deal of time together but he will be missed. He was a gentle man and just a nice person who genuinely liked people.

To the Bachly Family, I am very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing as he and Marilyn were wonderful people. We met at the Barrie Jazz Society functions and loved to watch Dave and Marilyn dance. They loved to watch me and my husband Eddie dance! Dave would often visit me at Barrie City Hall where I worked for many years. Dave attended Hearings there as he would chair our Rent Review Board Hearings. Brilliant man David was and very kind. He truly missed his wife Marilyn when she passed away, way too soon! I am sure they are dancing up in heaven now to their Jazz tunes! Rest in Peace David

I am so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. He was a dear man who spread smiles around the neighbourhood with his daily golf cart tours. He and my father George were good friends and Dave always made a point to remember my dad when he saw me and would always say something kind about him. He has left many legacies but his creation of a new community in Moonstone is just one of his visions completed. He will be missed in the neighbourhood. Our thoughts are with his family.
