David Jarvis

In Memorial

Peacefully in the compassionate care of the staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston, on Friday March 2, 2012, of complications from advanced pulmonary fibrosis.   David Jarvis at the age of 76, beloved husband of Florence Jarvis.    Loving father of Susanna and Richard Jarvis.    Forever in the hearts of his granddaughters: Serenity and Harmony.    Lovingly remembered by his brothers: Keith, Laurie, and Steven Jarvis. David was born in Mt. Albert and lived in Richmond Hill before moving to Tottenham 25 years ago. He worked as an electrician and a truck driver before retiring at the age of 73. His love of steam trains prompted his active involvement with Ontario Rail in Toronto, and, subsequently, the local South Simcoe Railway in Tottenham.  A Private Family Graveside Interment Service was held at Mount Tegart Cemetery, Tottenham.   Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home Tottenham 905-936-3477.   www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com

We have all lost a special person; whether family member, volunteer or friend. We are thankful that we were able to know Dave and to see him in action over the many years he volunteered on the South Simcoe Railway. He will be sorely missed, but our memories of him and his legacy will live on. Thanks for what you have done for all of us Dave and a special thanks also goes out to the Jarvis family for sharing him with us all those years.

I also met Dave when I started volunteering at the South Simcoe Railway almost 8 years ago now. Dave was always fun to have around, providing insight to the task at hand and always had a piece of interesting history about South Simcoe or another railway. His presence due to his illness has been missed over the last year, and the SSR is going to be a different place without Dave. We miss you Dave. My condolonces to the Jarvis family.

I came to know Dave over the last 6 years as a volunteer at the South Simcoe Railway.
He was valued member of the crew, his contributions were many and varied. In fact, if not for him the South Simcoe Railway would not be in Tottenham.
My sincerest condolences to the family. May he rest in eternal peace.
