Wos: Doreen Gail,
Peacefully surrounded by her loving family, at Matthews House Hospice, Alliston on April 3, 2023. Doreen Wos beloved wife of the late Joe Wos. Loving mother of Catherine (Brian Lavoie), Joseph (Lori), John (Angela), and Marie Houston. Cherished grandmother to Adrian (Sabrina), Matthew, Megan (Emelio), Malcolm, Brendan, William (Natalie), Leona (Mike), Allison (Matt), and Melissa (Alex). Missed by her great grandchildren Jason, Jonah, Joseph and Taytum. Dear sister of John Gater. Fondly remembered by extended family and friends.
As we reflect on Doreen, fondly known as mom and Grandma, we are left in awe of what a remarkable strong willed, determined, and hard-working person she was. We are so grateful for all the knowledge and skills she has passed on to the family. She was an awesome baker. Her butter tarts were epic and would make people walk through snowstorms for them. She also made out of this world preserves, beets and chili sauce being her specialties. She loved to garden and take care of her lawn. Even though her rose garden was her pride and joy her greatest love was for her peony bushes, especially her yellow peony. If she wasn’t weeding or watering things you would find her racing around with her weed eater. Doreen also enjoyed going to concerts, camping and drives with family and friends. Her and her late husband Joe loved to explore Canada, especially northern Ontario. They both loved working on their hobby farm, gardening, and in the kitchen working side by side. Doreen’s greatest joy was her Great Grandchildren. Nothing filled her more with joy than seeing them and watching online to see what they were up to. She will be greatly missed.
Respecting Doreen’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life will be taking place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doreen’s memory to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.

Dear Catherine and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of your dear mom. I really enjoyed my visits with her and truly admired her spunky character, courage and strength through her journey. When I first met her, I was coming to visit your dear Dad and Doreen would have him helping her with her quilts and would keep him on track if he got distracted. They would be admiring their peonies and roses and one day your mom made sure I had a stunning bouquet of peonies she hand picked for me to take home to display for my family. I want to tell you that both your parents were so special and I will never forget them. I am sending your whole family prayers and love in the dark days ahead. Rest easy Doreen and God speed your burdens are now over. ❤️❤️
