Dorothea Elizabeth Rutherford (nee Sunnerton)

August 31, 1928 – March 29, 2018

A lifetime resident of Beeton passed peacefully on March 29, 2018 at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston. Beloved wife of the late John Rutherford (2003).  Loving mother of Jim (Leslie), Marilyn, and the late Carolyn (1979). Cherished grandmother of Andrea and James Rutherford.  Devoted sister to Walter Sunnerton, Violetta McCullough, and predeceased by Helen Lisk, Eileen Stewart, and John Sunnerton. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Resting at Rod Abrams Funeral Home (1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham) 905-936-3477 on Friday, March 30th, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held in Trinity United Church (37 Centre St. N., Beeton), on Saturday March 31st, 2018 at 1:00pm. Interment will be held at Trinity Cemetery Beeton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Matthews House Hospice or Trinity United Church, Beeton would be appreciated by the family. www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com

    Please accept our condolences on the passing of your Mom. Last night, I was talking with my brother, Bill, when he told us of your Mom’s passing. Many “young” memories came back. As a child, your Mom always took photos at my birthdays. Lovely Lady.

    We are saddened to hear of Dorothea’s passing. She truly was one of Spry Lodge’s special ladies. We will miss sitting with her and talking hockey at our Special Ladies luncheon.

    Marilyn, Jim and Family. Our deepest condolences on the loss of your mom. Both your Mom and Johnny were fixtures of Beeton and one of the most respected couples of the community. I miss seeing them both sitting on the porch waving to all their friends as they drove by. They are back together on a much bigger porch in heaven.

    Miss Dorothea was a lovely lady. We always felt special in her company. Our son never got by her without a hug from Miss Dorathea and Kevin and I never passed her without giving her a kiss on the cheek. Our deepest condolences to all.
