I have so many wonderful memories of Fiore, Maria and his family and friends. I wanted to share a memory from my mother who use to say about Fiore. She would say “Carmen I never want to hear a bad word about Fiore.” She was so incredible impressed and touched by the love he had for his mother-in-law. She used to describe how he would treat her like his own mother if not better. Another memory I house deep in my heart was when my dad was in palliative care and Maria and Fiore would arrive like the wind with food and huge container of espresso. Maria would sit there to make sure he ate as Fiore looked on. I still remember Fiore’s voice when he would greet my father with the familiar “pagialone”. Every time my parents would come home from their many visits with Fiore, Maria and their daughters, they would share many stories that would make you laugh and cry. My father and mother would always say that Sandra, Tonia, and Lina were like their granddaughters. I can only imagine their discussions as they are reunited in heaven. One thing I know for sure is that Fiore’s spirit is still on earth taking care and trying to direct his beloved Maria, children, son-in-laws and grandchildren and boyfriends. Rest in peace dear friend you will never be forgotten.

Lina and Mauro, sending prayers, love and strength during this difficult time of loss to you and your whole family.

Losing your dad is such a difficult thing to process because you are losing a source of strength, stability and consistency in your life. In addition, the loss of a life partner for your mom must have her feeling incredibly vulnerable and heartbroken.

I feel that I somewhat got to know your dad through our conversations of the years. I picture him as a hard working, but fun and loving man. If my assumptions hold true, he’s walking around in heaven right about now making it known that he’s arrived! “Bring on the vino and a game of SCOPA” (or perhaps BRISCOLA). If he does not play, I am sure when he meets my dad he will start!

I want you to know that you are not alone; we are here for you. It is perfectly okay to be NOT OKAY . . . until you are!

I feel confident in saying that I am speaking for more than just myself when I say . . .
“You can lean on us as much as you need. Anytime, day or night . . .to talk, cry, laugh or scream.”

Dearest Zia Maria, Lina, Tonia, Sandra & Family,
We are, deeply saddened and beyond; we are with you in your grief.
Sometimes it may feel that the outpouring of love from family and friends will not be enough to heal the wounds of sorrow.
But know that Zio Fiore is in a place of Peace.
May your loving memories of Zio provide comfort in your journey through this loss.
Know that these loving memories will always remain with you.
We will remember Zio as a very wise and intelligent man. A man who embraced ideas that were out of the box, and bravely pursued them.
    How inspiring!
    Rest in peace, Zio Fiore.
We send all of our prayers and thoughts. Our deepest condolences,
    Love
