Was remembering Madam Stringer today. I’ll always be so grateful to her. She made french class fun and helped me feel safe at school. I knew her door was always open. I spent many recess times in her office with my friends instead of going outside because of bullying. She was an amazing person and I cared so much for her.

I just had a conversation at work yesterday about how incredibly wonderful Florey was. She was the only teacher growing up who truly cared and loved her students. If somebody could contact me with her grave location, I would love to leave some flowers before the winter weather destroys them.

My heart is so heavy upon hearing of the loss of such a sweet and kind soul. Madame Stringer was instrumental in helping me discover my love of French and in helping me to survive my final (very difficult) years of elementary school. I am forever grateful for the deep love and care she showed me, for all the times she comforted me while I cried, and her encouragement of my passion for the French language. She was an incredible woman and teacher and we are all so lucky to have been her students. Sending all my love and healing energy to her family.
Tu me manques, Madame Stringer. xx

My condolences go out to Florence’s family. I knew Florence in East York; we were in the same class throughout elementary school and junior high.

We lost touch over the years although we briefly got in contact a few years ago. We didn’t realize how closely we had been living to each other after we left Toronto.

    She is in my prayers.

Today has been a hard today…I just found out that one of the teachers who inspired me to become a teacher has passed on. Mme Stringer, I have no words to explain how much you meant to me as a student, and how much the lessons you taught me, now mean to me as an educator. I remember you taking me to see Lion King in Toronto for the first time, and helping foster my love of musical theatre that is now one of my greatest passions in the school plays we did together, you coming to my house for mother’s day, or my family coming to yours for dinner, or you allowing me to be your child for a day on take your kid to work day when I was in high school so that I could come back to Tec Beeton and spend a day teaching with you. The most important thing you taught me though was how to create a safe space for a student who otherwise felt alone. I was tormented and bullied for years of elementary school, and I remember you letting me stay in at lunch and do little odd jobs for you so that I wouldn’t have to go out on the school yard and be bullied by my peers. It often felt like no one else at school was protecting me, but you always did, you always made me feel safe, and now as a teacher this is what I try and do for my students. You will be so dearly missed, but I hope you are looking down from heaven with the angels, proud of all of the students you helped foster into amazing adults. You were so much more than a teacher, you were a friend. <3

When my family moved from Sudbury to Beeton, I lost most of my French abilities without a community to share them with. Madame Stringer was the most actively encouraging teacher I could have ever hoped to have, and her influence is what pushed me to continue studying French through high school and university. I would never have gotten to where I am today, working in a completely French environment, without her support and motivation. All of her students were lucky to learn from a person with such a good heart. Je t’aime toujours, Madame.

Mike and Family, so sorry for your loss. She will be missed. I will always remember her and how she could light up a room with her smile and kindness. We are all blessed to have known such a lovely person. One of the funniest memories I have of her is when she came into the old Home Hardware and asked Earl and I to “please take Mike, he’s driving me crazy now that he’s retired! He just needs something to do! Can I drop him off and leave him here for a while?” and we all had a laugh and Mike had a new pass time job!
    Love you all!

I will always remember Madame Stringer coming over for lunch one day to our home, to a simple meal of homemade chicken soup and sandwiches. She said it was the best lunch I’ve had in years because it reminded her of her grandmas homemade chicken soup. That’s the kind of woman she was; giving the most beautiful compliments to others.
