Sedgewick: Gordon Fraser,
Gordon Fraser Sedgewick passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Bethell Hospice in Caledon, Ontario. He was 83 years of age. Gordon will be greatly missed by his wife Ruth, daughter Lynne (Wayne), son Ross (Marina), brother Ken (Nancy), and by Gordon’s loving grandchildren Sabrina, Taylor, Christopher and Spencer Lyon, and Lindsay and Zoe Sedgewick.
Gordon was able to enjoy his favourite pastime of sailing up until his last months and was very grateful for the good company and support of the many family and friends that visited with him. He and Ruth enjoyed a family celebration of their 59th wedding anniversary on August 30th at their home.
A memorial gathering to celebrate and reflect on the life of Gordon will be held Sunday October 2nd, from 2-5pm at the Whitby Yacht Club, 701 Gordon St, Whitby, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, with thoughts of Gordon in mind, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dear Gordon
Our friendship commenced just 3 days after Jan and I arrived in Canada from the U.K. and continued for the next 59 years. Our immediate and extended families became good friends and enjoyed many happy times together both here and across the pond. No words can express how much we will miss you.
Goodbye dear friend and thanks for all the memories. Jan & Don

We came to Canada in1968 and we are always so grateful to Gord and Ruth for inviting us to their farm in summer and winter. We enjoyed their company whenever we met them in Florida. I will always be proud to call him my partner.

Many fond memories of our time in Oshawa and the great sailing outings with Gord.
Mitch and Sharon Troian says
Mitch and I are extremely sad over the passing of Gord. We will recall with a great deal of fondness the many fun-filled family gatherings at the “homestead” overlooking the valley. Mitch is sorry he and Gord never got to install the zip line down to the pool.
Gord, may you have fair winds and following seas as you sail off into the sunset.

Our deepest sympathies to Ruth and the Sedgewick family on the loss of Gord. We felt very priveledged to be Gord and Ruth’s dock mates for a number of years where we shared music and boat advice. Gord held a warm place in our hearts and will be missed.
Christine Castle says
I had the honour and privilege of serving for six years with Gord on the Board of Trustees of The Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa. Although he always professed to know nothing about art, he DID know quite a lot about many other things. His talents, skills, and patient good humour will be missed. My condolences to the family.
Bridget&Martin Calpin says
Gordon loved his life and lived it to the fullest. He was a prince of a guy with a lovely sense of humour. You always found Gord the same way and I don’t recall ever seeing him angry, although he was not known to suffer fools gladly. For eons it seems the Sedgewick parties were the highlight of the year, be it the Groundhog Shoot or the Christmas bash. Ruth and Gord were the perfect hosts. Ruth, you must be heart-broken. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We shall not see his like again.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Sedgewick family in august. Although a short time spent at their home I was honored to be part of his life and welcomed into their home so openly
When ever I see hummingbirds I will think of mr Sedgewick as we sat on the deck after his morning breakfast ,him loving the warmth of the sun and the hummingbirds at the feeder getting ready for the fall flight.
Well , Mr Sedgewick ,my friend your flight has now begun peacefully and now you rest.
Again such an honor to of been part of the journey with you ,Ruth, Lynne and Ross.
