Dear Andrea and Doug, and your respective famiies
I have many fond memories of your father, but I think he takes the cake in patience, generosity, and class. I remember when Sandy the Tabby cat got one of my gerbils, your father brought one home for me when I was 8-9 years old. I remember the times he took us all up to the cottage for weekends, which was always a joy. I really do not know why he put up with our very silly behavior so graciously. I also remember he said a few wise things to me, such as most of life learning goes on outside of school and opened my mind up to a lot of different things because of him, which was a great gift for a youngster to have been given.
Kathy Oates (Becigneul) says
To Andrea, Doug and family, your father certainly was an incon with my family and a very strong presence in the construction industry. We used to call him, George Becigneul, Geoff Kinney the Rat Pack – they were as thick as thieves and true friends. I can remember going to church with my father George and going to your dads place after for breakfast! He was a great friend and support to my mother after loosing Goerge at such a young age. He used to call me at least twice a year to see how Edith was doing and Andrea you brought him over to our house in Etobicoke after he had his knee replacements. He also visited with us in Orillia if we went to see my brother. It is funny I was thinking about him that he had not called, we left Toronto on the 25th of Dec and just returned tonight. I read of his passing on the plane. However he will be resting in peace and with many of his old croonies. My mother Edith is still with us, 91 and in a nursing home in Collingwood, but no quality left.
Hugh was a great man, and I am sorry that I cannot attend nor had an opportunity to tell some of the old gang, but perhaps they might read it like myself.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Kathy Oates(Becigneul)
Trish Thomas says
To: Doug, Sue, Andrew and Hannah: I really enjoyed my time getting to know Hugh cutting his hair and enjoying a glass of his homemade wine. I definitely had a crush on the old guy. He was so sweet. He spoke with so much pride about all of his family and loved all of you so very much. He will be sadly missed and has left a smile in my heart when I think of him. My thoughts are with you all through this difficult time.

Anne de Grosbois says
Dear Andrea and Andreas, Dear Doug and Sue,
We are saddened to hear about the death of Hugh. He will be dearly missed by us. Hugh had a wonderful life and died peacefully. This knowledge makes it more easy to accept the loss. May we all carry on such a strong desire and need in people as Hugh had.
You are in our thoughts and prayers,
Anne, Jörg and Ezra
“Apparently with no surprise
To any happy flower,
The frost beheads it at its play
In accidental power.
The blond assassin passes on,
The sun proceeds unmoved
To measure off another day
For an approving God.”

Teresa de Grosbois says
Hugh was an icon of our family and I will miss him so dearly. He was my very first role model of what it means to be a business owner, something I carry with me in my own business. I have so many fond memories of him – his strength and character. Doug and Sue, Andrea and Andreas and all his grand-kids, I am keeping you all in my prayers and wish I could be there with you at this time.
Kurny Woods says
I have a lovely memory of being at Hugh’s apartment at Doug’s house and his joy at the HUNDREDS of tomatoes he had cultivated. He was so happy and settled with his kids and grandkids so near.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Kurny, Marc, Annie, Bill and Finn.
