I have had the great pleasure and honour to have grown up with this woman my whole childhood as well as most of my adult life, despite the distance between us.

Inez was our neighbour, from the day we moved into Huntingwood Hills in 1980 until she left to live in Hastings Manor. She was a warm wonderful woman with so much to share. We loved her spirit, she loved life and would tackle anything from caring for her beautiful lawn and gardens to desiging and building her own family room. I always appreciated her help in the sewing department too, she was a beautiful seamstress. I always admired how she would save every little bit of fabric, buttons and zippers and design and sew something simply beautiful from it all. She took such care in caring for herself as well, she had home remedies to help cure her ailments and took much pride in always looking fabulous. Her hair and wardrobe always perfect, she was always such a lady! She was wonderful to our daughters as well, teaching them to do ceramics and taking them for ice cream when they were small. Our grandchilren looked forward to seeing her when they would come to visit us, she loved to chat with them as well. We all loved to talk about her to our friends(brag about her usually), she was much a marvel ! She stayed in touch with everything around her, she was always watching the news and many documentaries and would love to discuss what she had learned. She loved her family and many friends, and travelled many hours to visit them well into her 80s. It didn’t matter what the weather was like, she would drive in anything, we admired her headstrong attitude , but she often make us a little nervous as well. She was a very strong, very witty woman..always working so hard, but never complaining. We loved her dearly, we will miss her, and we’ll never stop talking about her. She was definitely one of a very special kind!

Chris and Gord Vernon and family says
Inez was a part of our family’s life for twenty years, a part of our daughter’s and our son’s childhood, and a woman who amazed – and amused – us all with her spirit, her gumption, and her energy.
We have fond memories of her puttering in her garden, her laughter and her chatter. We remember the interest she took in our children?s lives and their activities. We often watched in awe as she cheerfully and determinedly tackled any kind of home repair from fixing her own plumbing to hanging out a window to paint the trim to climbing the ridgepole of the roof to replace a flapping shingle. She was a woman who was not easily discouraged, and she never seemed to let adversity and danger take its course if it interfered with hers!
She loved fashion and makeup and took pride in having her hair nicely styled. I (Chris) spent some happy times with her going out for lunch or a shopping trip, she always dressed so glamorously that I felt quite boring next to her despite being 30 years younger!
She loved her garden ? a passion we shared. In my garden now, I have one of her yellow irises, a pink peony, and a beautiful peach-coloured daylily?plants I especially cherish because they belonged to her.
She was a woman with definite opinions which she expressed eloquently; she had an abundance of hilarious and fascinating stories of the happenings of her life; she had talents enough for many lifetimes and seemed to be interested in learning something new every day – then sharing what she’d learned with everyone around her.
She was strong and resilient in the sorrows and hardships she had to bear at times. She was funny and sharp-witted and intelligent, and never ever shied away from hard work.
She was one of a kind – and what an impression she made on everyone who knew her!
We’ll remember Inez with smiles and laughter and awe as much as with tears. No doubt that wherever she is now, she’ll be commanding some fascinating conversation, or with trowel or hammer or garden spade poised, and ready to enthusiastically tackle some new adventure!
With love to you, Inez, from Chris and Gord and Andrea and David.
