After a long five year battle with cancer, Jim at the age of 53 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 23, 2024 at Margaret Bahen Hospice Newmarket. Beloved husband of Jennifer Somerville (nee: Finter) for 27 years. Loving father of Janis, Jessica, and Evan. Dear son of Ann and the late John Somerville. Sadly missed by his sisters Sharon, Susan, and Laurie. Fondly remembered by his mother and father in law Fran and Len Finter, and his sister in laws Christine (Jim), Lynn, and brother in law Sean (Allison). Remembered with love by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In January 2022 Jim received a liver transplant that added two beautiful years to his life and for that Jim and his family are forever grateful to Daniel Ellis for his life extending gift.
Jim always had a passion for farming. Jim is a fourth generation farmer who learned so much of what he knew from his late father, John. In the 18 years that Jim got to spend with his son Evan some of his favourite memories are teaching his son to farm and getting the privilege of passing his knowledge to the generations of farmers to come.
The Family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham 905-936-3477 on Thursday August 29, 2024 from 6pm-8:30pm. A private Family Graveside will be held at Kettleby Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory to the Margaret Bahen Hospice, Stronach Cancer Care at Southlake Regional Health Centre, or University Health Network would be appreciated. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.
