Wilson: James Gerald ‘Jim’
Passed away peacefully at Matthews House Hospice on Tuesday September 22, 2026. James Gerald ‘Jim’ Wilson at the age of 67 years, beloved partner of 35 years Michelle Hatch. Loving father of Jade (Ryan Clark), Cree, Shanelle and Kooper. Sadly missed by his granddaughter Scarlett.
Dearly missed by his brother David Wilson (Quynh) and sister Christine Wilson (Stephen Dol). Nieces and Nephews Jay (Jackie) Atia, Nicole (Alex), Thuha, Simon (Kim), Keanna, Savannah and Spencer. Son of Glenda (predeceased) and loving father Brian Hagerman. Jim will be missed by his friends Larry, Rich and Colin. Jim was a loved grandpa to cats Lucy and Jeff.
Jim lived his life creatively, spending many hours making crafts with his kids, building toys, doll houses or magnets while teaching them the importance of metal music like Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest that was often played at the highest volume tolerated. He spent plenty of time keeping up with sports and cheering for his favorite teams the Montreal Canadiens, Brazil’s soccer team and the Miami Dolphins. Growing up Jim kept himself busy with sports playing baseball, hockey and his prize winning capabilities as an arm wrestler. Later on he picked up golf which he shared with many family members and friends.
Jim went through a battle with cancer for the last 18 months and fought with positivity and strength, always having a good spirit when chemo started and making the best of the situation at hand. When things started progressing further he decided to have a ‘live celebration of life’ that had roughly 90 people listening to his favorite music and wearing their best jerseys in his backyard. A day he spoke about every day following. He will forever be cherished and missed by family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at The Muddy Water Tavern, 25 Main St., West, Beeton, Ontario on Sunday October 4th from 4-7pm with light refreshments offered. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.

Jim and I were goalie partners in Tottenham and good friends back in the day. He later moved to defence, but he never lost his goalie instincts-he was always trying to block shots, which certainly kept me guessing!
We also shared a love for the Montreal Canadians.
I have many great memories of Jim and those days together. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
RIP Jim. You will be missed.

Growing up in Tottenham I lived across the road (Queen Street) from Jim and his family. I knew a bit about Jim having played hockey against him when he lived in the Beeton area. My past experience was that Jim was indeed a serious athlete and I was delighted to have him move in across the street from me.
We spent many hours together playing hockey – both ice hockey and road hockey. Jim was a terrific goaltender and having him play for Tottenham when we played against Beeton was a great addition for us and helped even the outcomes. Later, Jim decided he would prefer to play as a forward rather than as the goaltender and he was good at those positions as well.
I was also a Montreal Canadiens fan and having Jim as a fellow fan was great company for me – especially those glory years when the Canadiens won many Stanley Cups over multiple years while the Leafs were left behind. We were smug fans and tried not to brag too much to the Leaf fans.
Jim was also a great soccer player having played for some serious teams before he moved to Tottenham. Most of the rest of us were not very good soccer players having never played seriously before but at least we had Jim who was able to keep the score respectable.
After I left Tottenham I lost touch with Jim but Jim never lost touch with me. Every once in a while I would get a phone call out of the blue and his first words to me were “Hey Winters” and so I knew it was him calling. Jim liked to call me Winters because I had the same first name as Johnny Winters who was one of his favourite heavy metal musicians and I was honoured that he had done so.
One thing I always remember about Jim is that even if I hadn’t talked to him in a long time, he made it easy to talk to him. It was as if we had just spoken the day before and we were picking up where we had left off. Jim was very loyal to his friends!
May you rest in sports heaven Jim!
