Joan Mitchell

In Memorial

Mitchell: Joan Emily,
Peacefully at Matthews House Hospice Alliston, with her loving family by her side, on Monday January 25, 2021. Joan Mitchell in her 79th year, beloved partner of the late Bruce Nevilles. Loving sister of Diane Lavigne (John), and Muriel Quail (the late Tom). Dearly loved aunt of Robert Lavigne (Heather), Danielle D’Eon (Geoff), Kerry Quail (Celina), Cathy McDowell (Andrew), and Tommy Quail. Sadly missed by her great nieces Sarah, Ashley, Emily, Kaitlynn, and by her great nephew Noah. Forever in the hearts of all of her extended family and friends. Joan, known to many as Joanie, was a lifelong member of the Tottenham Legion, where she served as both past President and on the Executive of the Ladies Auxiliary. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at a time when we can once again safely gather in groups. For those who wish, donations to Matthews House Hospice Alliston would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home Tottenham. Condolences for Joan’s Family may be left at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.

    Greetings,

I was a branch president when Joanie was LA president. She was a staunch supporter during my time there and we became very close friends. It always amazed me that we could not see each other for months at a time but when we did it was like we had only been apart for a few days, our conversations flowed that easily. Like you, I am grieving her loss and now have a hole in my heart. I loved her and will miss our talks so much. Take care.

    Sincerely,

    John Price

My condolences to her family. My mom did her hair for years, so I’ve known her since I was a kid. I also got to see her as our crossing guard on the corner of queen and Dillane. Recently before the lockdown, I would see her and Diane at Cedar kitchen and she would always ask how I was doing and ask how my school/career was going. She was a kind soul and will be greatly missed. Xoxo

I was heartbroken to hear of the passing of my dear friend Joan. She would always call me her “favorite” and would say that we were both the rebels in the family. Joan has been such a wonderful family friend of ours for many many years. She would always be joking and laughing when we saw each other and was always such a caring person. She was definetey an icon in the Community and was always there to help anyone out when they needed it. R.I.P. Joan I am really going to miss you so very much. Love you always and will treasure all the wonderful memories I have of you. I also wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to Diane , John and all of the family during these difficult days.

To Diane, Danielle and Robert and the rest of the family I am so very sorry. Joan and my Mom Bertie were friends all of their lives. Auntie Joan was always at my house. I remember decorating her house on her Birthday every year. She was like a Mom to me. She was always there for me all of my life. She was my Maid of Honour at my wedding, because I couldn’t do it without her. I even adopted her one year on her Birthday. I will miss you Auntie Joan. Thank you for always being there for me all of my life. My heart is broken. Heaven has gained an angel.
