In Memorial

Flanagan JohnJohn Edward Flanagan
March 3, 1954 – October 8, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother, John Flanagan at the age of 72. He entered into the loving arms of our Lord on Thursday October 8, 2026 dying peacefully at London Victoria Hospital. John passed with his family at his side surrounded by love and prayers after a brief illness.
Reunited now with his parents Peter Flanagan and Kathleen Sullivan Flanagan, his adored and sorely missed sister Kathleen Duggan (Bill), his big brother Gordon and sister in law Ann, his nephew Donny O’Neill and stepbrother Norm Pearce (Liz). John leaves behind many who mourn his absence, especially his siblings. His brother Patrick (Patricia), his sisters: LaVerne O’Neill (Paul), Linda Rowe (Ted), Madleen Katkauskas (Ed), Beverly (Bob McAuley) and his brother Michael (Annette).

“Uncle John” is remembered fondly by his nephews and nieces. Wayne and Karen Flanagan, Chris and Bryan Flanagan, Ryan and Jeff O’Neill, Ted, Shaun, Drew and Lindsay Rowe, David Duggan, Connor and Kathleen McAuley and Peter and Matthew Flanagan.

He was a great uncle to Donny and Maya Flanagan, Paul, Jack, Irelynn, Charlie and Ellie O’Neill, James, Ben, Sullivan, Finn and Kit Rowe, Lila and Oak McAuley. He was a lifelong friend to John Marsden and many more who appreciated his humour and friendship including many cousins he kept close to in his life. John was a dog lover and will be missed also by Izzy the four legged escape artist.

John was the consummate story teller, who could find humour in every situation no matter how dire the situation might be. He was fun to be around and eager to assist a friend or stranger alike. John we miss you already but are so grateful you are no longer suffering.

I am so saddened by my ‘Johnny Angel’ passing … I met John in 1986 … we worked together at Branigans in Richmond Hill for 5 years ! He was a treasured friend and we kept in touch over the years ! Not for 1 second have I ever doubted that he loved me as I loved him !! My deepest condolences to his Family and all who loved him ! One of my favourite memories is riding around in his big old convertible! And singing ‘Johnny Angel ‘ to him so often that i just started calling him ‘Angel ‘ & how he would laugh !! Now he is an Angel !

    Rest in peace John.
John left his mark on my life about 45 years ago when we met at work and became fast friends. He taught me how to really love and live life. While I hadn’t seen him in recent years, he was always in my heart and will be forever. My condolences to the family and wishing I could be there on Saturday.

So sad to hear of cousin John’s passing. I can remember all the fun from when we were kids growing up on the 5th. It’s been years since I saw him but always remember his laugh and sense of humour. He came from a large family like we did and we all seemed to be related to everyone so I know there are many who mourn his passing. Condolences to family and friends

Oh my heart. Sending deepest condolences to the Flanagan family, Johnny was like a big brother to me. We worked together for several years at Branigans, Richmond Hill- if you know, you know! Great person to work with, we had so much fun. Visited him many times at the Newmarket farm—his dogs, Red and Blue —no doubt greeted him when he crossed over…..aw, so sad that he’s gone. A sweet guy, loved to laugh, made everyone laugh and was a very loving guy. RIP Johnny. Xoxo

    Dear John
It has been a long while since we were together with the family. I always enjoyed our conversations and your quirky sense of humor. You are at peace now free of pain and suffering. You lived life the way you wanted to and passed away the same way. Watch over us John and when the going gets rough help us through.

Sorry to hear of the passing of John.Known the Flanagans since birth,I’m sure mother had me at the old church before 10 days.
Many memories of Ki ng when chatting with family includes the Flanagans.Witg the Woods and Coughlins and Flanagan there were many interactions.
You folks were to me like Newfies, never met a bad one and if truth be told bailed me out of a couple of growing up things
Remember John warmly as a quieter one growing up as our paths crossed from time to time whether biking ,serving church ,restaurant work or hearing the stories.
A good measure of a man is the love and respect of family members and I’m sure he achieved this with aces RIP John and condolences to your clan

My dear second family, the Flanagans , as you are well aware John was my brother from a different mother for 53 years. I will miss him more than words could ever express. I know that you will all miss John as much as I will. I find great relief however knowing that he is now with his maker and loved ones who have passed before him. Carol Burnett, many years ago said at the end of each show a message that describes how I feel about my friendship with John…
“I’m so glad we had this time together. Just to have a laugh and sing a song. Seems we just get started and before you know it. Comes the time we have to say so long”. Rest in peace my dear, dear friend.❤️
