Gamble: John Wray “Duke”
Peacefully passed away with his loving family by his side at Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket, on June 21, 2025. John “Duke” Gamble, at the age of 80, leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable one-liners — even in his toughest days, his quick wit never left him.
Loving companion and best friend of Mary Chynoweth. Beloved father of Kim Andrew (John) whose love and care meant everything to him. Cherished and deeply missed by his grandchildren: the late Avery Andrew, Emma Andrew, Paige Andrew and Jade Lynch (Adam). Dear brother of the late Bill Gamble (Linda), Ferne Jeffels (Ken), and Kevin Gamble (Helen). John also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will always carry his memory with a smile.
John found his greatest joys in simple pleasures — admiring his Cub Cadet tractor, taking pride in the home he built over 50 years ago, spending time at the trailer, enjoying the loyal companionship of his beloved dog, Coco, who he is now reunited with, and of course, Duke always loved a cold bottle of Maclay’s beer. His sense of humor, even through sickness, reminded everyone around him that laughter is one of life’s greatest gifts.
Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home, Tottenham. A Family Memorial Celebration will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations in John’s memory to the Margaret Bahen Hospice Newmarket would be appreciated. Condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com
