Laurie Kennedy

In Memorial

Kennedy LaurieKennedy: Laurie Anne,
Passed away peacefully at her home in Pottageville, with her loving family by her bedside on December 25, 2025, at the age of 63. Laurie was the beloved wife of Joe Streef and loving mother of Katrina, Rebecca, and Jake. Dear sister of David Kennedy (Ingrid). Predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Pauline Kennedy (Duff). Fondly remembered by her in-laws Frank and Joan Streef, and Joe’s siblings Randy Streef (Marion), Barb Mikkelsen (Ron), and Pete Streef (Anto). Sadly missed by her “Little Sister” Katie Moore (Ben) and their son Townes. Forever in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Remembered for her kindness, empathy, and warmth, Laurie was always looking after others, quick to extend a thoughtful word or gesture to anyone in need.

Laurie managed the office at the Alliston Creamery, which she operated alongside her brother David. As second-generation business owners of the last independently owned creamery in Ontario, Laurie and David followed in the footsteps of their parents Lloyd and Pauline, keeping their legacy alive.

Her love of travel began young when she lived in Australia for a year attending high school through a rotary exchange program. She spent time backpacking across Europe and Australia, making many lifelong friends and cherished memories.

She was an extremely creative and focused person always looking for new things to learn. Laurie leaves behind an extensive collection of craft and hobby work including knitting, crochet, cross stitch, stained and fused glass, refinished wood furniture, scrapbooks and folk art. Pieces of her work will be on display during the memorial service.

A Memorial Service will be held at Rod Abrams Funeral Home located at 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham 905-936-3477 on Saturday January 10, 2026, with Visitation from 10am until the time of Service in the chapel at 11am. Reception will follow in the funeral home’s Cliffside Hall.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ron Curtis, Ruby, her nurse from S.R.T. MedStaff, Dr. Zibdawi and Southlake’s Stronach Regional Cancer Centre team, Dr. Liauw and his team (Allanah and Shandra), and Dr. Bedard, Dr. Mitchell and their clinical trial team at Princess Margaret Hospital for their dedication and care during Laurie’s battle with cancer.

Donations in Laurie‘s memory to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, Princess Margaret Hospital, or Big Brothers and Big Sisters would be appreciated by the family. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.

    Dear Joe,

I have been thinking and holding you and your family so tenderly. Words can never fill the silence left behind. Take time, do not rush, for time it’s self has changed. Holding you in my thoughts and wishing you and your family gentle moments of peace as you walk through this time of sorrow, loss, and grieving.

Grief is strange. It can break your heart and still make you laugh when you remember that one ridiculous thing said. May those moments keep reminding you that love never leaves. May Laurie’s memory wrap around you like a warm blanket.

Dear Joe and extended Streef and Kennedy families,

My belated condolences to you as I only just found out yesterday about Laurie’s passing.

Joe and I have known each other for decades in a work capacity and unfortunately I never got to meet Laurie but I can well appreciate what a wonderful person she was, spreading her positivity and light to family and friends – and I’m sure continuing to do that, just from a different place.

Wishing all of you spiritual strength and cherished memories of Laurie in the days, months and years ahead.

Though we knew Laurie briefly at our trivia nights, you could feel the warmth and care she exuberated on a daily basis to her family and friends. She definitely was a fighter! Laurie was part of the Merry Minstrels that toured and performed in the UK in 1979.
We were all music students of the late Marjorie McKelvey. We spent the year prior to our tour practicing, fund raising and having a lot of fun together. Laurie had a great smile and voice. My sincere condolences to her whole family.

My heart and prayers go out to beloved Laurie, Joe, your family, and loved ones. I am so saddened to hear of the heartbreaking loss of Laurie. It is so moving to read the stories about the legacy of love and community that Laurie had so nurtured. She was my first childhood friend. She was such an inspiration to me. Laurie was incredibly creative, brilliant, and had unwavering strength to walk her own unique path. Although we had lost contact after high school, her impact and inspiring influence will stay with me always. May the countless ways that she has blessed our lives have a ripple effect far beyond our lifetime. Much love ~ Suzanne Thomson

I was deeply saddened to hear about Laurie’s passing. Even though we hadn’t stayed closely in touch over the years, we were always able to catch up, and I will always remember her as a dear friend. Laurie had a kind heart and a warmth that made people feel welcome, and the memories we shared growing up still mean a great deal to me. She made the world a little brighter just by being in it. My thoughts are with her husband Joe, her children, her brother David, and all who loved her during this incredibly difficult time. She will be remembered. Rest in peace Laurie Anne.

I remember as a child carolling with my mom, dad & Leann on Christmas Eve at the Kennedy’s and the many years of singing with Laurie Anne in the Merry Minstrels. She was the first person that I knew who went on Rotary Youth Exchange which made it possible for me to consider going myself and surviving. She was kind and always positive and she will be missed by all who ever met her. My condolences to Joe and Laurie Anne’s children, that she was so very proud of and to David & his family.

Sandra and I are deeply saddened by Laurie’s passing on Christmas Day. Our hearts are with you and with Joe, Katrina, Rebecca, and Jake during this incredibly difficult time. Laurie was such a fun, kindhearted, and genuine person who cared deeply for everyone and everything around her. I first got to know her nearly 30 years ago when she met Joe at the cottage, and it truly feels like just yesterday. Even though life has kept our families physically apart over the years, those memories and the connection have always remained close. May she rest in peace.

Dear Joe, Katrina, Rebecca & Jake,
It was with profound sadness that I read this announcement of Laurie Anne’s passing. I came to know her warm friendly manner when first at high school in Alliston. New to the area, I didn’t really know anyone. We were together in classes and she drew me in to her group of friends. She was always my connection to those days and our mutual friends and aquaintances. Even thought about her annual Christmas letter just before the holidays this year (that used to update us about your family & activities). I will so miss her bright smile, great conversation and love for all things crafty. She was a brilliant soul.
With love to all of you at this very difficult time,
    Diane
I will be away at the time of her service and will not be able to be with you. My thoughts will be right there.
