Margaret Ann Cajot (nee: Higgins) left us peacefully at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston, ON, July 28, 2024, at the age of 92 years, with her beloved daughters by her side.
Cherished wife of the late Gerald Cajot, and devoted mother to Susan McGillion (the late David Robert), and Lisa Vachon (Alain). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren David (Kerri), Michelle (Kevin), Shawn, Carolyn (Justin), and Raquel and her great-grandchildren Hannah, Jack, and Lauren. Predeceased by her granddaughter Danielle.
Fondly remembered by her brother Clayton (Joan), her sister-in-law Isabel, many nieces, nephews and family throughout Canada, Wales, and England. Margaret is predeceased by her loving parents, Edwin and Ethel, her beloved siblings Joan, Sadie, David, Donald, Raymond, and Pat, and her special cousin-in-law Julie. Margaret was born in Swansea, Wales. She graduated from Secretary College and married Gerald, the love of her life. For a decade they travelled around Britain and Europe before moving to Canada in 1961, where they were finally blessed with their daughters. She loved life in Toronto, meeting and entertaining many friends. Margaret worked at York University as an Administrative Secretary for 28 years. During this time she and her family moved to Tottenham because the landscapes reminded her of her beloved Wales. After her ‘Gerry’ passed away, she moved to Wasaga Beach, making great friends through the ‘Diamond Divas’ Club, The ‘Prime Time’ Club and the ‘Probus’ Club. At 90 years old, she finally allowed her daughters to help her move closer to them. Although sad to leave her friends and beautifully cultivated gardens behind, she was grateful to meet more wonderful friends at Kingsmere Retirement Home in Alliston. Here, Margaret enjoyed chatting with special friends, sitting on her balcony to watch the geese in the pond, and listening, once again, to her ‘Tottenham Train” whistle.
The family would like to thank the wonderful PSWs and Staff at Kingsmere, Bayshore, and Stevenson Memorial Hospital, for their care and kindness. Thank you to Dr. Liesbet Jansen for taking over our Mom’s care. A special thank you to Dr. Kristina Stevenson for her kind direction in our time of need.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Church, Colgan on Saturday August 10, 2024, 2024 at 11:30am, with interment to follow at St. James Cemetery. Reception will be held in Cliffside Hall at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham, following the interment.
