Passed away at South Lake Regional Hospital in Newmarket, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Mary Elizabeth Davies (nee. Parry) was born in Burk’s Falls, Ontario on 22 June 1937. She grew up on a small farm in Ansnorveldt on Holland Marsh. The house is still there. She was the oldest of seven all of whom had post-secondary education.
She went to Aurora High School by bicycle and never let her siblings and husband forget how many potatoes and beets she picked.
At 18, she went to Toronto General Hospital Nursing School, a profession she followed for 37 years, rising to Head Nurse in General Surgery and for 2 years in Ophthalmology.
People from as far afield as England and Crete say that she was a fine steak chef.
Mary loved her wine and wine tours and visited the great wineries of Europe and California. She liked a gin and tonic, whether it was Harry’s Bar in Venice or the Palace in Madrid.
Most of all, she loved River Cruises especially Portugal. She loved to watch the world float by. She was an intrepid road navigator. No road was too narrow, too steep.
She was the greatest wife a man ever had and I miss her very much.

I’m so sorry to hear that Mary is no longer with us. Clive, I am very sorry for your loss. Unfortunately I just found out about her passing today and I’m saddened for her loss. I met Mary through Clive many years ago as I had one of their dogs. My beloved Norfolk Terrier (Leo), and that itself, created a very special and long lasting bond between us. I remember going to their home from time to time to visit them with my Leo and I will always remember arriving at their house full of beautiful Norfies. It was a paradise to me and it was a joy for me to spend time with this wonderful couple when ever we got the chance to get together. I always admired Mary’s and Clive’s energy, how they complimented each other and their love for dogs and they will always they will always have a special place in my heart. Mary will surely be missed ❤️

Mary and Clive lived around the corner from Mike and I for many years. We enjoyed the gatherings Mary would put on when it was time to grade their litters of Schnauzers and Norwich Terriers. Mary was always proudest of her Schnauzers (sorry Clive). We moved early in 2000 but have very fond memories of Mary and Clive. My condolences to Clive and Mary’s family. Mary will be missed. Give Mike a hug and share some of your wine with him.

So saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. Always kind and receptive towards me and others. Willing to share her great knowledge of Standard Schnauzers with me. The world was blessed with her presence.

Clive I was so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. We had one of your beautiful dogs Max who passed away last April. Mary will now be able to take care of all our pups we lost. She was the best.

Wished we could have taken our trip across Canada to visit with you but COVID hit just as we were scheduled to travel. Sure miss seeing everyone at the shows, especially the Schnauzers at their finest, but not so much being in the ring, competing. Hope you can see the sunny side of the street instead of shadows. You will always have much love coming your way from us. Sincerely Debra and Berni Kusch

Deeply saddened to her that Mary left us way too soon. I remark at least once a week how truly blessed I was to have gotten 2 outstanding foundation dogs from Cortaillod and how to put out a welcoming spread at a dog show….. hoping Mary finds Senate and Gena in heaven for a good scratch. Blessed our the family and friends who Mary touched

It was a pleasure to have known Mary. She occasionally stopped by our place on her way to visit her mum so many years ago. She had a wonderful way with dogs and I was so honoured that she entrusted one of her favourites, Sparta, to us. Rest well, Mary – you deserve it! Clive, I’m so sorry she had to leave you. I hope you can find some peace.
