It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, Michael Anthony Leakey, on September 28, 2026.
Michael was born on July 5, 1973, in South Tetagouche. He was the eldest son of Lorraine Imhoff and the late Harold Leakey. He was a beloved brother to Mark and Alan (Andrea Lavigne), a loving father to Addison, and a beloved uncle to his nieces, Hannah, Bella, and Elizabeth.
Growing up, Michael had a unique spirit and a heart full of kindness, curiosity, and love for his family. He was hardworking, naturally gifted mechanically, and always willing to help. After graduating from Bathurst High School in 1991, he put his mechanical talents to use, earning a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Centennial College in Ontario.
He went on to build a successful career in Ontario in the manufacturing of heavy-duty industrial and production equipment. Michael also embraced his entrepreneurial spirit, studying and practicing day trading.
When we think of Michael, so many cherished memories come to mind. We remember him coming home every Christmas and making sure there were gifts under the tree for everyone, even when times were tough. We remember his warm hugs and gentle smile, and the excitement of seeing him pull into the driveway when he came home from Ontario for a vacation.
Our family is devastated. Michael was my rock and shelter, and I am heartbroken. Though his time with us was far too short, our world was brighter with him in it, and his memory will be etched in our hearts forever.
We are truly grateful for all of the private and beautiful messages, condolences, expressions of kindness, and food sent to our family during this difficult time. Your gentleness and kindness will never be forgotten.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Michael to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.
