To the Kennedy family, I would like to express my sincere condolences regarding your sad loss. Monsignor Kennedy was a very special person with a great deal of wisdom and charm. It was a privilege for me to work with him during the many years that he was on the board of the Toronto Commandery (Order of Saint Lazarus) and our Chaplain. I hope that the many memories of the happy times that you shared with him will be a comfort to you during this difficult period. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and the rest of your family.

Goodbye Msgr. Kennedy. I feel so blessed to have met you, talked to you and listened to your inspiring and spiritual homilies as our pastor at St. Theresa’s Parish Shrine of the Little Flower in Scarborough. I will never ever forget your angelic smile whenever I talk to you and your wit that always makes me laugh. Thanks for your kindness and fatherly love. Please bring with you my spiritual love and hug that I was able to express during and your last day with us at St. Theresa’s Parish.I felt I lost my father again…you as a spiritual father. Though I am filled with grief and sadness with your passing, I feel happy for you as I am sure you are now in Mother Mary’s motherly loving embrace and with God in heaven. May you rest in peace Msgr. Kennedy.

“ in amber tones, the light caressed, A place within my heart to rest.
The lamps are lit, but turned down low.
You’ll find him in the Afterglow.”
(From a poem by Charles Van Sandwick).

My most sincere condolences and warm, heartfelt hugs to each of Philip’s siblings. I am privileged to have known him.

He will be fondly remembered by the Catholic Women’s League, especially for being piper at our conventions for 8 years. He was a good and faithful servant and will be missed. RIP Fr. Kennedy
