The first time I met Shannon, it was for the meet the grad students at the University of Windsor, where we were both students. She was waiting outside the double doors that lead to the school gallery for the event. She was peering in and I asked if she was one of the new grad students. She looked relieved, we introduced ourselves and I said, let’s go into the gallery. We became fast friends.

She was a generous colleague, gifted artist and technician, an advocate for visual artists, and wonderful human. I will miss everything about Shannon, her kindness, generousity, her witty humour and her smile that lit up her eyes and face. Thank you Shannon, for making me a better artist, community member and person.

My heartfelt condolences to her husband, family, friends, colleagues and everyone who was fortunate to have met her.

To those of us who knew Shannon she was clearly one of creations most beautiful children. The example she set in the way she conducted her life made it a privilege for the rest of us to have known her. Ryan, we can only hope it brings you some measure of peace to know that so many of us are thinking of you in this unimaginably difficult time.

There are rare occasions when we meet someone as special as Shannon. She was thoughtful, sensitive, and engaging. She approached everything with a delightful curiosity, eager to master new skills. Her quest for insight and proficiency was always paramount, and it was a privilege to witness her creative process. My sincere condolences to those fortunate enough to have been a part of her life.

Shannon will always be remembered as a wonderful neighbour. A lovely smile on her face always greeted us when we chatted in the backyard and whenever we saw her in town. She shared her love of adventure and the arts with us on line. We will truly miss her.
