Ronald Henry Totty

In Memorial

Totty, RonaldRonald Henry Totty passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 16, 2025, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Deborah Totty (née Hawthorne).
Loving father of the late Warren Totty, Melissa Totty Hatfield (Brandon), Sam Totty (Courtney), and cherished grandfather of Lily and Jace Hatfield. Dear brother of Rachelle Totty and Lea Totty. Fondly remembered by his stepchildren Kristen Ireland (Rodney) and Sarah King (Vincent David), and as a caring grandfather to Ellie and Isaac Ireland. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
Ron devoted 35 years to the Metro Toronto Police Service, concluding his distinguished career as a Detective Sergeant. Throughout his tenure, he upheld the highest standards of integrity and commitment, dedicating himself to the protection and service of his community. His career stands as a testament to his unwavering character – a legacy that remains a source of immense pride for all who knew him.
In retirement, Ron embraced life fully. He and Deb spent cherished winters in Florida with lifelong friends, creating memories not soon forgotten. Known as the life of the party, Ron had a quick wit and a commanding presence that filled every room with warmth and energy, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him
He loved working with his hands  whether in the barn, around the house, or in his well-stocked tool room  and took great joy in building and fixing things. A passionate country music enthusiast, Ron found inspiration in the legends he admired Nelson, Conley, Cash, and Stapleton and never missed an opportunity to share a story or reflection.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham (905-936-3477), on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home’s Cliffside Hall. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Mt. Tegart Cemetery at a later date.

If anyone knew Ron then they were much richer in their personal life. At work we would go for drives to just get out of the office and we would be in different parts of the city and he would start telling me stories from his past while he was in the Toronto Police Holdup Squad (HUS). Ron always put a comical spin on on these stories and I would have to pull over because he had me laughing so hard I was in tears.
Ron was a multi talented gentleman, a father, husband, cattle farmer, great dancer, story teller and police officer.
Ron will be missed by his entire family and anyone who ever knew him. My deepest condolences to the entire family.
I’m sorry I can’t make Ron’s celebration of life as I am battling Cancer.

My sincerest condolences to Debbie, my dearest friend Rachelle, Sam, Melissa, Lea and all the family. I’ve known Ronnie since about the age of 13. What a great guy and family man he was!! Didnt see him a lot over the years, but always in touch with Rachelle and knew how he was doing. I will never forget my last visit to Ron and Debbie’s, with Rachelle. We reminisced, told some old and new stories and had some great laughs! I’ll never forget that laugh and how he always made you feel so welcome and cared for. I’ll never forget you Ronnie and may you now rest in well deserved peace. My love and hugs to all the family. Brenda (Newman) Callen
